A Little Bit Country

Stranded on the side of a country road with a broken-down car, Rorie Campbell is grateful when horse breeder Clay Franklin comes to her rescue. Stuck in the quirky small town, Rorie meets Clay and quickly begins to fall in love with the rugged and tough cowboy. Can a city girl make it work with a country man? Clay certainly thinks so. But your situation is… complicated. Clay and Rorie need to sort out their feelings if they want to be together.

Country Bride

Kate Logan is understandably devastated when her ex-fiancé marries someone else. At the wedding, after a glass of champagne, he spontaneously and stupidly proposes to his old friend Luke Rivers. And Luke agrees. The rancher is true to his word, and while Kate thinks they’re making a mistake, he won’t break his promise. Not only does he refuse to call off the engagement, but he insists that Kate really loves him, and she’s going to show it.

A Country Affair consists of two previous books published in 1990 and 2003. A Little Bit Country is the story of the Rorie Campbell, a young woman whose car gets breaked down in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, a young cowboy arrives on his horse and asks his brother for help. Clay Franklin is a gruff rancher who offers Rorie to stay at the family home while her car gets repaired.

Stuck in the quirky little town, Rorie meets Clay, his brother and his girlfriend Kate. If you’ve read Debbie Macomber’s books before, you know what’s going to happen next. The second story, Country Bride, takes place after one year later. Kate Logan is devastated when her ex-fiancé marries someone else.

At the wedding and after the champagne, he spontaneously proposes to his old friend Luke Rivers. And Luke agrees. The next day, Kate wants to forget what happened, but Luke won’t let her and leaves to show Kate that they are perfect for each other.

I enjoyed both of these stories and they were exactly what I expected from Debbie Macomber’s older books. They’re clean, cute, and yes, a bit predictable. The characters are friendly, kind and loving. I don’t know if she could be as forgiving as Kate but it’s good that she is so she can get on with her life.

I liked the first story better than the second, but both were entertaining. Karen White and Vanessa Johansson’s narration was enjoyable to listen to. Both talented ladies add emotion, tone and tone to the story. Listening to this audio book was a great way to while away the afternoon.

I usually read/listen to suspense, science fiction, horror etc. but I wanted to give drama and romance a chance. I came across Debbie Macomber’s books and loved the little house on the cover so I thought why not? let me tell you Oh dear God!

I couldn’t stop hearing it! I wore it every time I drove or went jogging. I just had to find out that what happened. I wish there was a series or at least a second book because by the end you feel involved and connected to the characters. But at the end of the day it was a wonderful book and I loved it. And I definitely read the rest of her books and now I love romance too!
