Jax Calder has become a self-shopping author for me. This author is on a different level than most, with a deep insight into human nature and a connection that sings from the pages of her stories. Each book is outstanding, with compelling, well-developed characters, high suspense and clear entries, palpable emotions, and an appealing setting and atmosphere.

Beautiful Hearts begins with a storm, increasing the stakes and suspense scene after scene to deliver another breathtaking and captivating romance. Read the retail copy for a synopsis of the plot.

As the story began, I felt great empathy for Tim, a single father and high school teacher who still mourns the loss of his late husband but makes his daughter feel safe, loved, and slowly opening up to his students and others. This author connects you so directly and completely with her characters that you feel like you’re breathing with them, and the tenderness of her unintended attraction to Jamie, a new hire at the school, captured my heart.

Oh how he wanted Jamie for himself. The fragility of that longing built to the point where I knew something terrible was lurking, waiting to shatter that beautiful, hopeful bond.

Jamie is drawn equally well, with a tender hand and sympathetic treatment that practically broke my heart for him before I found out what happened in his past to the mysterious and menacingly imagined Pat. Ah, that author. sheer brilliance Even if you can sense the derailment coming, I wasn’t emotionally prepared for the impact of the fall.

It’s very well done. Although I knew what was coming (just because I read A LOT) the intensity hit me again and it felt like a punch in the jaw. I’ve been crying And yet there’s still so much hope for these two, it’s like you’re crying but you still have hope because the two men are dealing with their feelings as adults, not lashing out or making stupid annoying decisions meet but your feel feelings and find out what is really important and then fix it in a way that you desire in real life.

The story is so good that I just bought a printed copy of the book to re-read my favorite parts. There are many of them. This author excels in her field and no doubt has a lifelong fan in me whatever she chooses to write about.

HEA. Age difference. pain solace. No cheating or emotional cheating, although there is an element of cheating in the backstory if that’s a trigger for you, it isn’t with any of the present MCs. Absolute pleasure in a book. Highly recommended. Read all the works of this author.
