Former Special Forces officer and New York Times bestselling author Brad Taylor delivers a gripping thriller starring task force operatives Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill as they confront a conspiracy where nothing is as it seems

On the trail of a North Korean plotting to sell sensitive American intelligence to the Syrian regime, Pike Logan and the task force stumble upon something far more serious: the sale of a deadly substance called Red Mercury.

Unbeknownst to the task force, the Syrians plan to use the weapon of mass destruction against US and Kurdish forces, blaming terrorists for the attack and prompting Western nations to reconsider their involvement in the civil war’s dark cauldron.

Meanwhile, North Korea has its own devastating agenda: a betrayal that will eclipse the attack on Syria, even if it blames the Syrian government. Utilizing Switzerland’s reputation for secrecy and its vast network of military bunkers, now repurposed by private investors for clandestine wealth storage, North Korea will use Red Mercury to destroy the West’s ability to impose further sanctions on the rogue regime .

Daughter of War is Brad Taylor’s latest thriller. I’m a huge fan of Brad Taylor’s work, and he consistently produces top-notch novels year after year. Daughter of War is no different. In their latest installment in the Pike Logan series, the team tries to track down North Koreans who are selling hacked American intelligence. While searching for the stolen information on American citizens in Monaco, the team discovers that the North Koreans are actually trying to sell a substance called Red Mercury to the Syrian regime.

Red Mercury is a weapon of mass destruction in the form of deadly gas that can kill anyone it touches. One aspect that makes them so powerful is that no weapons of mass destruction are detectable an hour after the attack. It is extremely important that Logan and his team find and destroy the weapons of mass destruction before they are used against the Americans.

Fortunately, they have found an unexpected ally: a young Syrian refugee, Amena. She stole a phone, unaware that it belonged to a terrorist and contained vital information. Now she is being followed. Pike Logan and his team rush to stop multiple attacks and attempt to save Amena’s life. But can they do everything in time to prevent multiple terrorist attacks?

Taylor’s stories are so believable which is what makes them so adorable. That’s because Brad Taylor knows that what he’s writing about. A retired lieutenant colonel in the notorious Delta Force, he uses his experience to write amazing thrillers. Daughter of War continues her collection of well-developed, powerful storylines. Longtime Pike Logan fans will enjoy this book as we see a side of Logan we haven’t seen in a long time (his softer side).

I love Taylor’s ability to write great character arcs for all of her characters, not just Pike Logan. Each book is another look at the lives of different people on the team, and the addition of Amena was a perfect character for this story. Fans of this genre will find a winner in Daughter of War. I am a lifelong Brad Taylor fan and I hope you will read this book. It’s available now.

The Daughter of War is the thirteenth novel in Brad Taylor’s Pike Logan series. This thriller adds a new element to the ongoing adventures of the Taskforce, a secretive US counter-terrorism force led by Pike. The novel works well as a standalone novel, but backstory from previous novels enhances understanding of the main characters and team dynamics.

Pike Logan, Jennifer Cahill and the rest of the Taskforce team are on a critical mission to disrupt the sale of a weapon of mass destruction. They are joined by a young Syrian refugee named Amena, who accidentally got in the way of the bad guys.

I’m a Brad Taylor fan, and The Daughter of War is another superbly written novel from this action thriller master. The main characters will be further developed in this installment of the series. The intriguing plot is complicated and frighteningly believable. The action is fast-paced and gets the adrenaline pumping. I fell in love with the detailed depiction of the landscape. Taylor explicitly describes the background setting and integrates it seamlessly into the plot. It takes the reader through all historical corners and to impressive peaks.

I thoroughly enjoyed this 13th edition of Pike Logan Breakaways. Daughter of War offers an in-depth look at how Pike, Jennifer, and the entire team worked together. I couldn’t find any downsides to this novel, so I rate it a solid 5 out of 5. If you crave action and adventure with realistic human interaction, this is the book for you. If you’re not a fan of violence, you might want to skip this one.
