Delilah Green swore she would never return to Bright Falls; there is nothing for her but memories of a lonely childhood when she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant adoptive family. His life takes place in New York, his photographic career is finally gaining momentum and his bed is never empty. Sure, she’s a different woman every night, but that’s fine with her.

When Delilah’s estranged stepsister Astrid pressures her into photographing her wedding with guilt and a five-figure check, Delilah finds herself back in the godforsaken town she used to call home. She plans to go in and out, but then she sees Claire Sutherland, one of Astrid’s smug best friends, and decides there could be some fun (and a little retribution) in Bright Falls after all.

Claire Sutherland, who has mostly raised her 11-year-old daughter alone while dealing with her unreliable ex and running a bookstore, needs a life without surprises. And Delilah Green is an unpleasant surprise at first. Although they’ve known each other for years, they don’t really know each other, which makes Claire uneasy as Delilah figures out exactly which buttons to push.

When they are forced together during a series of wedding preparations, including a plot to save Astrid from her horrible fiancé, Claire is unsure if she has the strength to resist Delilah’s charms. Worse, he’s starting to think he doesn’t want to…

I’m thrilled to live in a time when writers write these sapphic rom-coms that are funny, emotional, and genuinely engaging without shying away from open-door scenes. Yass the bisexual and lesbian main characters and their unbridled sexual empowerment. However, I cannot use the word in my review ?

Regardless, Delilah is bold and artistic, loving her casual dates and living her best seggsiest life in New York City. But it really isn’t. There are bills to pay and family to visit at her home in small Oregon town where her wicked stepsister Astrid is about to get married. Or is Delilah the bad guy? Well, we’re going to find out. Delilah definitely doesn’t care about those people at home. Claire is one of Astrid’s best friends, a single mother who takes care of everything and everyone, soft, caring and stable, basically the opposite of Delilah in every way.

The attraction is immediate and inevitable once the prodigal daughter returns home. Claire and Delilah’s romance is sweet and passionate, filled with one-on-one moments and casual commitments that are both just what the other needs. However, the star of the show is Delilah and Astrid’s reluctant relationship, Delilah makes friends and found family in a place she never thought she could love, and Claire and Josh’s Lorelei Gilmore and Christopher like the momentum and growth your character.

Astrid and D have a lot of pain and blame to spare in their past and years, and it’s so satisfying to see them finally get over it all. Or at least start the process. Delilah’s budding relationships with the Circle and Ruby are absolutely heartwarming, her back and forth with Astrid and Iris sarcastic, perceptive and hilarious, her mini-rants against the patriarchy gleefully to the point. The female friendships in this book are only life-affirming goals. Astrid’s character was the most fascinating for me. I saw her and wanted to know more about her, so I’m looking forward to her next story.
