Monday mornings aren’t really supposed to be fun, but they should be predictable. Going Rogue Stephanie Plum’s 29th book by Janet Evanovich is here, and it’s as full of laughs and thrills as the first and all. In Going Rogue, Stephanie shows up to work at Vinnie’s Bail Bonds on a Monday morning only to find that office manager Connie Rosolli isn’t there. That never happens. Worse, as Lula points out, there are no donuts.

After checking out Connie’s usual hangouts, Stephanie’s worst fears are confirmed when she receives a call from Connie’s kidnapper. They want to trade Connie for a coin that was used as security for someone’s bail. That someone has since been killed. Now Stephanie must find the coin, figure out why it’s so valuable, and save Connie from her increasingly impatient kidnappers.

Luckily for Stephanie, she can enlist the help of Lula, her grandmother Mazur, her boyfriend Morelli, and security expert Ranger. The only question is how many laughs there will be along the way, how much trouble he will get in and possibly how many cars he will blow up.

This series is always entertaining, imaginative and full of great scenes. The only question for me is whether Grandma Mazur or Lula offer more laughs (this time it was Lula through the nose). Finding the coin and the characters we meet along the way, whether they’re related to the coin or just the bail jumpers picked up as Stephanie’s multitasker, is a lot of fun.

I don’t know if Evanovich was listening to “Torn Between Two Lovers” or if “throuple” was on his Word of the Day calendar when he came up with the love triangle between Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger, but it sure gets complicated . Stephanie’s life and makes our life so much more fun. There’s still a lot of steam in these relationships and it just adds to the fun of reading these books.

This is another great entry in this series. Fans will devour it and everyone will eagerly await the next book.

Stephanie also finds the pantry ransacked. She receives a call demanding a trade: a coin to be used as collateral for Connie. But Vinnie lost her. Now Stephanie and Lula must use every trick they have to get Connie back. And avoid Grandma Bella’s eye…”

This is a different Stephanie in the last two books. She is more confident, although she sometimes has a hard time deciding between Ranger and Morelli. He’s not scared of Bella anymore. But he still can’t prevent his car from being blown up. I could even set a record for the number of things that explode in this book. As always, the castle is busier and Stephanie gets caught in traffic and a sweatshop. But Ranger and Morelli support her.

Evanovich is not familiar with Brad’s character in this book. Grandma Mazur is excited when she opens the door, but then she gets a special tattoo on her forehead.
More wacky characters and wacky escapades from Evanovich. Another great adventure for Plum.
