What does a white knight do when his princess wants to sacrifice a city to the barbarians? He apparently turns to the famous Black Wizard of Grimslock for help.

What should a black magician do when the white knight asks for his help? Keep it, of course.

Devan does not agree to this payment plan. He so he does.

This is a delicious short read! The story is very character-driven and filled with light-hearted comedy from start to finish. You can tell that the author had fun writing this book. It almost felt like a dnd campaign between friends gone haywire. I quickly fell for Tan’s aloof and flirtatious weirdness that goes well with our gallant gentleman with a heart of gold. I really wish this had been made into a full novel, but I’m looking forward to the next part!

Tan is definitely the most lovable evil wizard I’ve ever read about. Do I pay in kittens? My kind of guy! Devan embodies the White Knight, or should he be the Gray Knight? In any case, he is cool and has a sense of humor.

Although short, he was well rounded. We got to know the characters and the world and had conflict resolution. It was very satisfying.
For those who are curious, yes, it was a lot of fun. I had to smile the whole time while reading. I still have hot fluff. I will definitely devour them when they come out and buy the pack when it’s ready.
I recommend it for MM lovers. Especially for those like me who like low anxiety stories.

I loved this novella! (90 minutes) A.J. Sherwood’s trademark humor is definitely the highlight of the story. It’s a bit surprising to me that he managed to create and develop such wonderful characters in such a short read. I can’t wait for the next part of this series!

I love books that flip tropes on their head and that doesn’t disappoint. Tan the “black wizard” is incredibly energetic, but also kind, caring and good-natured in general, and Dev the “white knight” is the perfect foil for his weirdness; pragmatic patient and willing to look beyond labels to do what is necessary for the good of his country. The story was a good introduction to the world, but it left much more to explore. I can’t wait to hear more about his antics!

…But I also can’t help but see more evil princess tantrums in future books, please?

I wish they were all out by now. The evil wizard was almost too childish, but his innate strength and respect for his good deeds made him mature, so he didn’t feel strange. And he was pretty funny in his own way. The poor developer always works so hard. I can not wait to read more! I love odd couples, he’s one of my favorite tropes.
If you’re expecting dirt, this isn’t what it is, but it’s cute. I smiled as I read. pooh! Why can’t the other books come out already!!!!
