One is Cyrus.
The other is the killer.
MY THOUGHTS: Robotham is an exceptional author who has written a gripping police thriller, a worthy third installment in the Cyrus Haven series. Before proceeding, you should read this series to fully understand the characters, their relationships, and their backgrounds.
Cyrus is a wonderful character. He’s smart, kind, and has the patience of a saint, especially with Evie, which is enough to test a saint’s patience. Often grumpy, resentful and stubborn, she makes it almost impossible to like her or form any kind of relationship with her. He has mastered the art of keeping everyone at a distance, even further if possible. Despite this, Evie is incredibly perceptive and possesses the uncanny ability to spot when someone is lying, something Cyrus finds useful and would love to do.
In Lying Beside You, Cyrus and Evie must come to terms with a third person between them, with Cyrus’ brother being released from a safe mental facility, changing the dynamic of their relationship once again.
This is an intricately plotted read full of suspense and distractions. I was a latecomer to this author, but he’s firmly in my top ten list now.
