After a wild bet, a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich and a snuggle with a kid, Alexis Montgomery has seen her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously sexy carpenter ten years her junior and as easygoing as he seems, the complete opposite of sophisticated city girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-rich parents want her to continue the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need fame or fame. She agrees to being an “only” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the narrow town she lives in, she discovers what’s really important.

However, to let their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning your back on your family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, yet neither can she give up the joy she has found with him. With so many differences between her world and his, how can Alexis choose?

For me, Abby Jimenez is a must-read romance novelist. I have enjoyed all of his books and Part of Your World is my new favorite.

We meet our heroine Alexis Montgomery when she returns from a funeral. His car ends up in a ditch as he swerves to avoid hitting a raccoon. She is waiting for a tow truck and is on the phone with her best friend Bri when a car pulls up and a man comes by to check on her and helps her get her car out. The boy, Daniel, is efficient and soon his Mercedes is out. They meet again in a small town bar where everyone seems to know everyone.

Daniel warns her that her friends have made a bet on who will take her home. In exchange, Alexis asked Daniel to accompany her so he could win the bet and she could leave. Always a gentleman, Daniel offers to cook her some grilled cheese before she leaves and she agrees to go home with him. You can guess what happens next. What is different are the obstacles they have to overcome in order to be together.

Alexis is in her mid-thirties. She is an emergency doctor who comes from a wealthy family. His parents and brother Derek are renowned surgeons and being Montgomery is almost synonymous with royalty. There is great expectation that she will be better off now that her brother has decided to stay in Cambodia after secretly getting married.

Alexis isn’t crazy about the responsibility of being a Montgomery. She never wanted to be the one to carry the torch, but with Derek gone, she has no choice. To top it off, her parents would prefer that she get back together with Neil, her ex who is the head of surgery. Alexis left him because he was emotionally abusive and cheating on her. His parents don’t care, they think Neil’s world.

Daniel Grant also has his own family legacy. His family lives in Wakan and has been helping the city for more than 125 years. Daniel wears several hats. He runs his grandparents’ house as a B&B, is the mayor of the city and a carpenter. He’s also a great cook, a good friend and generally a good person. He has a dog and takes care of a baby goat who wears adorable pajamas (at least I thought they were adorable). Daniel has tattoos, wears denim and flannel, drives a truck, and is ten years younger than Alexis.

how can they be together Their world is completely opposite and irreconcilable, but their chemistry is not.

I love everything about this book. I love Wakan the dog, the pig (Kevin Bacon), the kid, the magic, Daniel, Bri and the storytellers. Every book Julia Whelan reads immediately becomes one of my favorites. Zachary Webber does a great job bringing Daniel to life. I thought the two complemented each other well.

Kudos to Abby Jiminez for writing a romance that works!
