This book is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Elise is an incredibly strong woman, I don’t know how anyone can go through what she has and still be half the person she has become.

This book is so emotionally draining yet beautifully written. I know it’s fiction but you’re so attracted to it that you can feel every pain Elise is feeling, it’s like you’re right next to her, going through every step with her. I was so relieved that she told Weston everything and how supportive he was. I’m glad Elise has her HEA

I have to say that parts of this book were difficult to read, not because it’s a bad book, but because this story deals with some really serious subjects that are difficult to read about. This book broke my heart so many times that I honestly didn’t see a HEA coming for Elise, but God knows I prayed for one for her. (Don’t worry, she’ll get one ;))

WARNING: I would like to give everyone a small warning about the contents of this book. If you are sensitive to child sexual abuse/abuse and forced sexual encounters, this may NOT be the book for you.

I think the author solved these two problems very well. She didn’t do those very graphic scenes, which I appreciated, but there was still enough information and detail as I found some of them difficult to read (especially about 47% in the book). As a reader, I would have liked them to give me a little insight into the content of the topic… I would have read the book anyway, but I would have been a bit more prepared because I’m not so comfortable with those two topics around.

Well, with all that being said, I really loved this book. I found the story fantastic and unique. I can’t remember ever reading a book like this before. This story is actually taboo…we have two people who shouldn’t be together or be attracted to each other for a reason, but can’t help it. I have to say that Charity Ferrell is becoming a machine reader to me. When I pick up his books, I know I’m going to really enjoy the story and the world it takes me into.

I will say that this book differs from his other books in that it is a bit darker because of the subject matter. It’s nice to see when an author can create a book that is different from their current books because it shows the extent of their writing ability. Charity’s writing style is great, it grabs you and sticks with you to the end. I had a hard time leaving that. His stories are detailed but not overloaded with too much information, I never feel like his books drag or move at a slow pace.

I won’t reveal much about the plot of this story because I think everyone needs to experience the feelings of this story for themselves. In this book we meet with the Elise and Weston. Elise is a 20-year-old girl so broken (rightfully) that she honestly didn’t see how she could be as strong as she was. At the age of 13, really bad things happen to him. (brought by her father) which lasted 4 years until she was 17. At 17, she finally decided to help herself and tell someone what was happening to her. Well, let’s just say it didn’t go very well. She also met Weston for the first time when she was 17.

He was a 25-year-old college graduate who took his first job as a psychiatrist. He only met Elise on the first day of his new job, but she left a lasting impression on him. 3 years later they meet again in a café. What happens next is a story of healing and love. Don’t get me wrong… the road to healing and love is a tough one for Elise, she has to overcome some serious hurdles but with Wetson’s help she can make it through.

This story is mainly told from Elise’s point of view, but we also have Weston’s point of view. I thought it was perfect for capturing some of his thoughts and feelings. He added Weston’s POV in the right places to help us connect to his side of the story. He was also able to add a few surprises 😉

I would recommend this book to anyone as I thought it was a great book with wonderful characters but bear in mind the caveat above, if you are sensitive to certain issues this may not be for you. Looking forward to what Charity has next 😀
