There are many rules a priest cannot break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot leave his flock. A priest cannot leave his god.

My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I am 29 years old. Half a year ago I broke my vow of celibacy at the altar of my own church and God help me I would do it again. I am a priest and this is my profession.

Her stories tend to venture outside the box. She has a talent for writing a story that is completely unique and a style of writing that not only draws me in as a reader, but also doesn’t let you get away mid-read. I was completely fascinated by the story of Father Tyler Bell and his Poppy.

The Catholic religion is something I’m not very knowledgeable about; I grew up attending church and Sunday school in my early years, but not the Catholic Church. This story was full of surprisingly exciting scenes that not only overheated me but also made me think. I’ve been thinking a lot about what else is going on in this story. Because yes, it’s mostly an erotic romance, but there’s a lot more going on.

From the moment Poppy walks into Father Bell’s confessional, in search of guidance and a non-judgmental ear, she senses something crucial changing in her life. He is happy, content, and more than content doing God’s work, volunteering his time for many other social groups within the church, and repairing the untold damage of the past.

But from the moment Poppy begins her Tyler Bell confessional, the man reemerges for the first time in years, the man he thinks buried years ago when he decided to go into the to go to priest school and begin his journey to becoming a priest. She also brings back painful memories from her past that crash into the present, now Tyler is conflicted, confused and unsure of what is happening to him and why now…

“I couldn’t lose her. And I couldn’t keep it.

Poppy is new to the area and when she meets the handsome 29-year-old priest at the local church for her first confessional, she feels attracted to him and the attraction is strong. She is fascinated and yet confused.

“Tyler, you are exactly what I want. use me to be rude. Leave traces. She paused. “Please.”

This story is taboo, an erotic BDSM romance that takes place in a Catholic church of all places. And for some it certainly will, but for me the taboo has never outweighed the beauty. It was nice for all the reasons that some will find it too much or maybe even disrespectful to the Church. I think we all sometimes forget that priests, ministers and pastors are human beings like all of us. In general, people have weaknesses and make mistakes.

Father Bell takes his calling incredibly seriously, he is devoted to the Church, to God and to his parishioners, yet above all he remains a human being like all of us. He makes mistakes and now realizes that he still has wishes. It’s extremely disturbing to him, he thinks he gave up that part of himself years ago, but for some inexplicable reason this woman awakens Father Bell’s deepest, darkest desires. Poppy destroys all his common sense and unleashes a man who is less ruinous and not at all the man he has become. He cannot understand what is happening to him. I think somehow he thinks his sanity is on the wane.

“You’re really beautiful,” I told her, running a finger down her chin. And then I took her hand and laced my fingers through hers. “Whatever happens after that, I just want you to know it was worth it. you were worth it you were worth everything

The writing is thorough, and while this is undoubtedly a work of fiction; I found him down to earth and knowledgeable in more than a few aspects of the religion. I’ll admit I’m not all that familiar with the Catholic religion, but this story seems totally plausible and I was hooked from the first page. What really appealed to me about Priest was the forbidden romance element.

I’m a fan of forbidden romance and Priest is the ultimate forbidden romance with no apologies. What makes it even more powerful is the overwhelming, almost suffocating conflict that rages inside Tyler from start to finish. He knows what he’s doing, his thinking and feeling is wrong, but he’s like a drug addict who needs his next dose, and poppy is his drug of choice.

This book contains scenes so intense, dark and erotic that you may wonder if you are old enough to read them. I questioned it, shhhh don’t tell anyone I heard a lot of talk about this book prior to its release from early readers, bloggers and authors, each of whom said it was unimaginably attractive, they weren’t wrong.

This book was off the charts, question your age, looks over your shoulder, sneak around, read it in private, it’s sexy. Take the chance, read Priest, but be prepared, you must have an open mind to enjoy this book the way you want it to. It is fiction, after all, as the author intended. Priest will push each of your boundaries until they no longer exist.

“An inch and a half of damnation and all I could think about was sinking deeper into hell.”
