This is the last book in this series. It is at this point that some of the marriages break up and unfortunately too many of these rich people break up for good reasons. It shows, however, that not all “arranged” or “approved” marriages will hold together in the long run, despite people telling themselves they got married for all the “right” family reasons to “save face.” because their parents or grandparents do not approve of this choice.
The story also ended up proving that what happens doesn’t always come back the way you would expect, so be careful what you wish for. It’s been a wild and crazy ride reading these three fascinating books.
This is the last part of the trilogy and to be honest I’m sad that there isn’t another part of Crazy Rich Asians. It is a pleasant and light read and very entertaining. It plunges the reader into a fairytale world of money and power, a world they will never see (or want to see), and sheds light on family members’ struggles from trying to lead normal lives to more wealth and power. .
This latest book focuses more on Astrid’s struggles to fit in, Nick’s inner struggles with his family, and we also learn about matriarch Su Yi’s past. It ties up some loose ends and is a great way to wrap up the series.
