Pauline Sara Jo Moyes born on 4 August 1969, known professionally as Jojo Moyes, is an English journalist, romance novelist, and screenwriter since year 2002. She is one of the few authors to have twice won the Romantic Novel Award at the Year of the Association of Romantic Novelists, and his works have been translated into twenty-eight languages.

Pauline Sara-Jo Moyes was born on August 4, year 1969, in Maidstone, England.

Before attending college, Moyes held several jobs: she was a typist at NatWest writing Braille explanations for the blind, a pamphlet writer for the 18-30 Club and, for a short time, a minicab driver. While studying at the Royal Holloway University in London, Moyes worked for Egham and Staines News.

Moyes received a scholarship funded by The Independent newspaper, which enabled him to attend a postgraduate course in news journalism at City University in year 1992. He then worked for The Independent for the next 10 years in various capacities, becoming assistant news editor in year 1998. In year 2002, she became arts and media correspondent for the paper.

Early in her writing career, Moyes wrote three manuscripts, all of which were initially rejected. With a son, another baby on the way, and a career in journalism, Moyes vowed to stop her efforts if her fourth book was rejected. After sending the first three chapters of her fourth book to different publishers, six of them started a bidding war for the rights.

Moyes became a full-time writer in year 2002 when her first book, Sheltering Rain, was published. She continues to write her articles for The Daily Telegraph.

Moyes’s publishers, Hodder & Stoughton, did not pick up the year 2012 novel Me Before You and Moyes sold it to Penguin. It sold six million copies, reached number one in nine countries, and revitalized her back catalog, resulting in three of her novels simultaneously appearing on the New York Times bestseller list. Moyes later wrote two sequels to Me Before You: After You in year 2015 and Still Me in year 2018.

In year 2013, it was announced that Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter had been hired to write the adaptation of Me Before You. In year 2016, the film adaptation Me Before You was released and the script was written by Moyes.

In year 2018, Moyes invested £120,000 in the Quick Reads Initiative, an adult literacy project. Her investment brought three more years of funding to the program. Ella’s book Paris for One and Other Stories is part of the year 2015 Quick Reads collection and she contributed a short story to A Fresh Start from the year 2020 Quick Reads collection.

Moyes lives on a farm in Great Sampford, Essex, with her husband, journalist Charles Arthur, and her three children. Her animals include a former racehorse, Brian, and a rescued 58kg Pyrenean female mountain dog.

I should have known that reading Still Me would make me cry ugly as this is the 8th Jojo Moyes book I have read and I have never been able to read any of her books without being an emotional wreck! Moyes is so wonderful at touching the hearts of his readers, and no character does it better than the beautiful and sweet Louisa Clark!

Lou is back in Still Me for the third time, and I, for one, was excited to read about a character I had grown to love so much in the first two books. I was also happy to reconnect with previous characters like his family (his parents always make me laugh) and the Traynors, who I grew to love as well! While I agree with many that After You wasn’t as good as Me Before You (I really enjoyed Book 2, although I didn’t like it as much as Book 1), I can’t say the same for Still Me. I myself felt that it was almost as good as the first (honestly, nothing can beat Me Before You)!

In Still Me, Lou finally makes good on his promise to Will to live bravely and say yes to new experiences. Leaving his family and ambulance friend Sam in England, she moved to New York City to become an assistant…and secret guardian…to Agnes, the second youngest wife of the extremely wealthy Mr. Gopnik.

“You always have one foot in two places. You can never be truly happy because from the moment you leave you are two and wherever you are, one half of you is always calling the other. This is our prize, Louisa. This is the price of who we are.”

Lou soon discovers that it can be lonely trying to figure out who you really are in a new place while the people you know and love get on with their lives. She feels torn between what she wants in England with Sam and the life she creates in New York. Who is Louise Clark? It was wonderful to see Lou grow and blossom in this book. Her journey to find out who she really is and what she wants is poignant, heartbreaking and moving. Along the way, she meets some unexpected people who help remind her that she’s still Lou, only better, and that staying true to herself is the only path she knows how to walk.

Moye’s writing is excellent as always and brilliantly shows us the New York landscape, the parties, the crowded streets and more. She’s an author who makes me laugh and cry and I’ve done a lot of both with Still Me since Moyes always seems to get Lou into the wildest situations. Moyes has definitely become a car buying writer for me, so I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

I love Lou, I really do, and I hated to say goodbye to her, but I felt like Moyes gave her a happy ending, on her own terms, which is everything I ever wanted for her. It was an absolute pleasure spending time with Lou again… Highly Highly Recommended!
