This book is incredibly funny and also very romantic. The prologue is a treat. Just reading that would make him finish the book in one go. However, that wasn’t the case for me as I have to leave my Kindle reader at home and go to work…hehe!

Anyway, it’s a story between two brothers, Travis and Jake Titus, and their childhood friend, Kacey, whom they both desired and loved since childhood. Jake and Travis, who were only 6 and 8 at the time, made a bet that whoever married Kacey would win $1 million. The “blood oath” they made is so cute and made me laugh. They were so cute… 🙂

Kacey is now 21 years old and still going to college with a ton of student loans on his shoulders. He received a call from his former best friend Jake, who offered him his proposal: pretend to be his fiancee and take him to his hometown for the weekend to fulfill his grandmother’s wish and improve his company’s image to rescue. At first, Kasey was reluctant to accept his proposal, recalling the incident that separated them, but hearing her grandmother’s request all her doubts were dispelled.

If there is one person who could change her mind, it would be her grandmother. Grandma Nadine is a great-grandmother. I mean at her age of 85 she could wear six inch heels… Wow I think only she could pull that off…lol! Grandma Nadine treated Kacey like her own granddaughter and took care of her after her parents died.

Well Travis… What can I say about Travis? Hmm, at first I thought he was the antagonist of the story. But I was so wrong. He could have teased and teased Kacey throughout her childhood and ended up being called “Satan” by Kacey, I understood why he acted that way. Jake and Kacey were best friends growing up through college, with Travis eventually becoming the third wheel.

Every time I think about his “playhouse” story, I laugh so hard because he got to play the “dog.” God, kids and their stunts are adorable and cute most of the time. Travis thought if he got Kacey in trouble he would end up saving her from it, only it’s the other way around. Kacey hated him more.

Jake used to be Kacey’s best friend, but due to an incident, they became strangers to each other and he didn’t keep in touch with her after she graduated. He becomes a womanizer and a real “idiot” even paying prostitutes for a one night stand… Ewwww! I mean he has the looks and the money to have a decent woman by his side but why is he doing this??? I thought he was the nice guy in this story and every time he says he can “be married to Kacey and have a mistress next door” oh ordinary someone please stab him… lol!

I love the Titus family. They can be a bit dysfunctional but amazing in many ways. They treated Kacey like their own family. Grandma Nadine is a bit manipulative, but basically she has the best motive. She only wants the best for her grandson and so does Kacey.

In short, I love the plot of the story. Bringing back childhood memories is enough to say that this book is a must read. The alternate viewpoints have been done perfectly. The author has written a book that everyone can identify with. Travis, Jake and Kacey’s stunts are so adorable and reminded me of some of my own as a child. The close bond between the Titus family is also impressive and inspiring. I love reading books that capture raw, real emotion and leave me with some happy thoughts. I’m hoping there will be a second book because I’m hungry for more of the Kacey and Travis story.
