In The Noel Diary Christmas novel from New York Times bestselling author The Mistletoe Promise and The Walk, a man is given the best Christmas present he could ask for: a chance to rewrite the past.

Bestselling author Jacob Churcher hasn’t been home for almost twenty years, since his mentally ill mother kicked him out of the house when he was only sixteen. When a lawyer calls days before Christmas to say his estranged mother has died and left him her home, Jacob returns not only to settle the inheritance but also to try and heal the past and the pain he has endured and deal with abuse. like a child.

But it turns out there’s more to the house than just troubled memories, Jacob’s mother had become a collector and he’s sifting through two decades of clutter. Digging through the rubble like an archaeologist, Jacob uncovers many puzzling items, including a journal left by someone named Noel, a young woman he cannot remember who stayed with Jacob’s family throughout her pregnancy.

This is not the only echo of the past. Jacob receives an unexpected visitor, Raquel, a woman searching for the mother who put her up for adoption thirty years ago. The Noel Diary is much more than a holiday story. This is a thoughtful book and when he wrote it I wonder if he knew how many other people it would help heal. Jacob’s mother died, he inherited everything. Eventually he decided to go back and take matters into his own hands. I searched for answers. His mother was a collector and it would take much longer to tidy up the apartment, but he stayed to do it. As he was doing this, a young woman, Rachel, came in to speak to her mother, thinking her birth mother lived there when she was pregnant. She stayed and helped him clean the house and they found his journal.

They went in search of their mother. The neighbor told him where his father lived because he hadn’t seen his father since he left him as a child. They went to her father’s and her father told Rachel who her mother was and her last known address.
Both Jacob and Rachel were looking for the same reason why they weren’t worthy of their mother’s love. This shocked me because I was looking for her love up until the day my mother died and never found her.

His neighbor told him what is more important than what you are looking for is why you are looking. Because deep down the little boy is still afraid of not being loved.
Rachel was engaged to a man who treated her terribly. Jacob tried to show her that he didn’t respect her and that he wasn’t treating her the way she was supposed to be treated. He got mad because I think it’s like the neighbor said the little person in you doesn’t think you’re lovable.

Thank God everyone was able to heal themselves and believe they are worthy of love. Now everyone has a family. Thanks to this book, I’m healing and learning that I’m worth loving. I also learned that I had to do more than read or study, I had to believe like them. Thanks for this amazing story.

The Noel Diary book was my first Christmas present to myself. Most of my Kindle books are free, but Mr. Evans is one of the few authors whose books I pay top dollar for. This book was a little different than your usual stories, but it was a total delight. This story appears to have been written by someone who knows firsthand the emotional struggles of children not raised in loving families. Tears welled up in my eyes as I read the story of Jacob’s childhood.

Rachel and Noel also had difficult childhoods. It never ceases to amaze me how the lives of Mr. Evans’ characters intertwine in diverse and surprising ways. I appreciate the author’s attention to detail and wonderful descriptions. I can almost picture the scenes and feel what the characters are feeling. As others have mentioned, this is a love story on many levels, involving different people and varied relationships. This was such a moving and inspiring story with themes of hope and forgiveness.

The Noel Diary kept me interested the whole time and I found myself clicking through the pages on my Kindle when I should have been doing my homework. Dinner was postponed again tonight because I had to finish the story first. Once I’ve finished one of Mr. Evans’ books, I regret finishing it. The characters in his books become like friends I don’t want to leave. I hope you give this book a chance. It’s so nice to read clean stories that are interesting and uplifting.

The Noel Diary is one of those books that should be in every Christmas novel collection for the holiday season. Jacob Churcher is a bestselling author whose mother just passed away. Needing to return to his hometown to settle his affairs, he finds more than one secret in his daycare. In her attempt to clean up her mother’s mess, she also cleans up some of the past in her own life.

He also meets Rachel, a young woman trying to find her mother, Noel, who lived with the Churchers when Jacob was very young. I loved how the story slowly unfolded and how Noel’s journal entries showed me his heart and what had happened. It was an insightful and great book to read over the holiday season with a message of forgiveness and hope for the holiday season!

The Noel Diary book is captivating, I couldn’t put it down. Several family members and friends have adopted children and are concerned with finding, discovering and reuniting the real parents. This is a real boost for everyone involved. I would definitely recommend this book to you. And for people who hold on to reactions and bitterness, I would recommend that they reflect on the grace of God alluded to in the story.

Thank you for the reminder that holding onto anger and hatred toward others is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. They are the most affected. Thank you for the love created for Jacob and Rachel. Surely God is in the details we just gave to allow Him to help us.
