Almost two years have passed since Effie’s loving parents divorced, shattering the image of the happy and loving childhood she thought she had.

She has since split with her father and started a fight with her hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, for more momentous news, Greenoaks, the sprawling Victorian country house that Effie always called home, has been sold.

When Krista decides to throw a big “housewarming” party, Effie is originally removed from the guest list, and then gets an “anti-invite” at the last minute (maybe it’s because she called Krista a gold digger, but Krista totally deserves it.) that, and it was mostly a joke anyway).

Effie refuses, but then remembers that a beloved childhood treasure is still hidden in the house. Your only chance to get it back is to break into Greenoaks while everyone is busy partying. As Effie sneaks around the house, hiding under tables and peeking through hatches, she realizes that the secrets she keeps at Greenoaks aren’t just in the dusty hallways and hidden attics she explored as a child.

Seeing her sister, brother and father act when they think no one is watching, Effie overhears conversations, makes discoveries and begins to see her family in a new light. She then meets Joe, the love of her life who broke her heart a long time ago and who is still as handsome and funny as ever, and more truths emerge.

But will Effie act on these revelations? Will Ella hide herself or go out to the party and take her place with her family? And honestly, why did she really go back to Greenoaks? Over the course of a big party, Effie realizes that she must be true to herself and face her past before she can face her future.

Sophie Kinsella’s book is The Party Crasher.

The latter is independent. And it’s also the perfect read for a sad, rainy day.

Kinsella always creates a lovable main character. In this case she is Effie. Now she’s all grown up, but when you find out that your parents are getting divorced and everything you remember from your childhood may not be true and your beloved family home is up for sale, well, that’s devastating. How can her brother and sister be so accepting of Krista, her father’s new girlfriend? When Krista decides to throw one last party at Greenoaks, Effie doesn’t get an invite. But that doesn’t stop him from participating…

And so it begins: Effie sneaks onto the property, into the house, hiding in closets, attics, and most spectacularly, under the dining room table. I clearly remember hiding under a table as a teenager, hidden by a long tablecloth! I laughed out loud many times while i was reading The Party Crasher.

So, with all this hiding, Effie hears her mention her own name to herself, more than once. Her clandestine escape offers a different picture than the one she painted for herself. Or is that it?

At its core, The Party Crasher is all about family and friends: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Kinsella explores these relationships with humor, candor, and wit. In fact, I’m sure every reader will find something or someone to relate to. And it wouldn’t be the Kinsella novel without any romance! There is a beautiful plot perfectly written.

The Party Crasher was a perfect escapist, laugh out loud, heartwarming read sprinkled with some truths we can all relate to.

Effie finds out that her father and her stepmother Mimi are getting an unexpected divorce. Shocked and very upset, she doesn’t handle it quite well. Fast forward to Effie’s father, who is dating a much younger woman named Krista who hates Effie. Krista and her father decide to sell Greenoaks, the beloved and extremely quirky home that Effie and her siblings grew up in and love.

A farewell party is held to bid farewell to the beloved house, to which Effie is unlikely to be invited. Effie decides not to leave, until she realizes that one of her prized possessions remains hidden in the house. Biting the bullet, she devises a plan to crash the party and steal the property, but once she gets there, she begins to realize that there is so much going on behind the scenes that she can only find out if she stays and stays. hide.

After the Love Your Life disaster, she was nervous about reading this one. But I am so happy to say that Kinsella is back! This book The Party Crasher brought me back to the everything I love about Kinsella’s books. Effie was so relatable, frustrating at times, but she went on a journey and came to self-reflection and I loved it.

It was so funny and wonderfully written. I loved Bean, Gus and Joe! Effie and Joe’s relationship was wonderful. The Party Crasher whole story was very sincere and funny. It really got into the family dynamic and I couldn’t put it down. It also came with surprises! A great read, this book made me very happy.
