When 65-year-old Bindu Desai inherits a million dollars, she is shocked and horrified. The stroke of luck threatens to uncover an embarrassing mistake from his youth. Desperate to keep the secret, Bindu quickly squanders it on something unexpected: a condo in a posh Florida retirement community.

The impulsive decision surprised Bindu’s daughter-in-law, Aly. At forty-seven, Aly still shares a house with Bindu, even after divorcing Bindu’s son. But maybe that change is just the push Aly needs to fight for the segment she’s been promised for years at the news network where she works.

As Bindu and Aly navigate her new dynamic, Aly’s daughter Cullie grapples with the loss of the business that made her a global tech star. The only way to save it is to provide her investors with a new idea, and of course they want the half-baked dating app she offered them in a panic. The problem is that Cullie has never been on a real date. Of course, her response is to enlist her single mother and her grandmother to help with her investigation.

From USA Today bestselling author Sonali Dev comes a heartfelt novel about three generations of hilarious, bohemian, ambitious women dealing with bad dates, a spiteful HOA board, returning exes, and secrets that won’t stay hidden. Join the Desai women on a journey of self-discovery together as they dare to live their most vibrant lives.

This is a great book. I loved every minute of reading about this family and couldn’t put it down. Life lessons are many, but this story is much more than that.

You can’t help but love the imperfections of the main characters, who resonate with their own demons to tame.

This book impresses with the perfect descriptions of the characters, their emotions and their environment. Oh how I heard the sea and felt the sand between my toes.

Fights against conditioning and prejudice are delicately balanced with a subtle touch of natural justice.

I loved the book and will read it again sometime. I’m sure there are things I missed in the excitement of wanting to develop the story.
