The grim discovery of a dead body brings to light a past that threatens to tear a community apart.

As a farmer is chopping down trees on the outskirts of a deserted community in the Welsh hills, he discovers the remains of a man apparently buried years ago.

DI Winter Meadows grew up in this unusual community and uses the trust she has there to investigate the case. But he is thrown aside when the body appears to be that of his father, who disappeared years ago when the detective was a teenager.

Taken away from the investigation, he will remain in the village of tents and makeshift buildings conducting informal investigations. He remembers the last time he saw his father and is convinced that someone there knows what happened all those years ago.

But will the perpetrator want Meadows to interfere in his business? And if they get away with it, will the truth be buried forever?

WINTER’S CRY is the seventh standalone crime thriller starring DI Winter Meadows and his light-hearted DC sidekick Tristan Edris. It can be enjoyed all on its own, but be careful with the other books in the bestselling series.

Born in Cardiff, Cheryl Rees-Price moved as a child to a small former mining town on the outskirts of Black Mountain, South Wales, where she still lives with her husband, daughters and two cats. After graduating from school, she worked as a paralegal for several years before raising her two daughters. Cheryl returned to education, studying philosophy, sociology and accounting while working part-time as an accountant.
