Colleen Hoover (Margaret Colleen Fennell) (born in December 11, year 1979) is an author of young adult fiction and romance.

In January 2012 she published her first novel Slammed. In December 2012, she published Hopeless, which topped the New York Times bestseller list. Many of her works were self-published before being picked up by a publisher.

Hoover was born on December 11, 1979, in Sulfur Springs, Texas, the son of Vannoy Fite and Eddie Fennell. She grew up in the Saltillo, Texas and graduated from the Saltillo High School in year 1998. In 2000 she married Heath Hoover, with whom she has three children. Hoover has a degree in Social Work from Texas A&M-Commerce. She worked in various teaching and social work positions before beginning her writing career.

In November year 2011, Hoover began her first novel, Slammed, with zero intention of publishing it. She was inspired by a songs lyric “decide what to be and go be it” from an Avett Brothers song, and “Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise”. Because of this, she included the Avett Brothers lyrics throughout the story. After a few months, her novel was reviewed by book blogger Maryse Black and she was given a 5-star rating, and sales of her first two books increased rapidly.

Hoover published her first novel, Slammed, in January 2012 and a sequel, Point of Retreat, in February. They reached #8 and #18 on the New York Times bestseller list in August of that year. Atria Books picked them up and re-released them on August 10. A third book in the series, This Girl, was released in April 2013.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future depends on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page turner that asks: Can an overwhelming love with a perfect beginning survive a life between two imperfect humans?

As soon as I started reading this, I immediately fell in love with Graham and Quinn. Both met under terrible circumstances, both hurt the same, both were betrayed. Seeing them use each other to get through this point in their lives was beautiful to watch, even if it didn’t go beyond that night.

Quinn was amazing, really amazing. The pain and suffering that she is going through is absolutely heartbreaking, something that she would not wish on anyone. Just reading what he was going through broke my fucking heart. It felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest, stepped on several times, hit by a bus, and then pushed back into my chest.

The subject on which this book is written is something that many women go through, things that a woman does not have to go through. All Your Perfects is the first book I have read that fully covers this topic. Heartbreak, tears, sadness, depression and confinement. Quinn experiences everything and you feel everything he does.

Graham, oh Graham. He is, I don’t even know the word to best describe him. He’s the kind of man you want. He is caring, supportive and will do absolutely anything for his wife. The theme of this book is often just about the woman, but it is never about the man’s side. They don’t mention how the man collapses, how devastated he is or how seriously injured he is, but Colleen Hoover does. She shows Graham’s pain in this book and that’s the hardest part of reading it.

My heart broke for him because not only was I going through the same thing she was going through, but I was alone in her pain. He is not afraid to show his pain, but he always puts his wife before himself. He’s a breath of fresh air, Graham, and I think he’s my new favorite CoHo male.

Colleen Hoover has the power to draw you into the world of her characters and make you forget everything else. You feel like you are living life with the characters in it and for me my friends make an amazing book and they are my main reason for this 5 star rating. It may be a heartbreaking and sad book, but it was powerful and meaningful and I am in awe of Colleen’s talent.

Colleen Hoover is good with words. I mean every writer should, right? I have some favorite authors; I always buy their books without even knowing what they are about. Helena Hunting, RS Gray, Alessandra Torre, and of course Colleen Hoover…just to name a few.

Some of my favorites make me laugh, some make me think, some make me swoon; most do everything. Colleen hits me with her words every time she writes a book. She always seems to tackle a difficult topic in her writing, but she finds a way to fit it perfectly into her story. She always leaves me wondering and wondering…after I’m done with the Kleenex, of course. This book hit me hard and remains my absolute favorite of hers to this day. That’s saying a lot, as It Ends With Us held the spot for quite some time.

“I do what I do best. I’ll walk away until I’m strong enough to pretend the conversation never happened. And he does what he does best. He leaves me alone in my pain for making it so hard for him to comfort me. We’re getting really good at playing our parts.”

I think everyone who is in a relationship should read this book. Every marriage goes through tests. We all experience Category 1-5 storms. It all depends on how you navigate these storms as to whether or not you choose to use your partner as a partner. This book was amazing at showing how avoiding problems can create an even bigger problem.

She showed that a person can feel one thing, believe that their partner is thinking about something completely different…while both are still aligned with the same thoughts. They both love each other, they are afraid of losing each other, but they lack the necessary communication to have a conversation that alleviates those fears.

“I miss you Quinn. so much. You’re here, but you’re not. I don’t know where you went or when you left, but I have no idea how to get you back. I’m so lonely. We live together. We eat together. We sleep together. But I’ve never felt so lonely in my whole life.

COLLEAGUE!! She wanted Graham and Quinn so badly. She wanted him to keep fighting for her. When chapter 16 came along, he was very worried. abeYou didn’t ruin my dreams for these two. Of course, without a little swoon, it wouldn’t be considered romance…and boy did I swoon.

MR. GRAHAM SOURCE. My new friend book? Yes actually.

“I did not want you to fall in love with me because of fate,” she says, closing the box. “I wanted you to fall in love with me simply because you couldn’t help it.”

Thank you for the topics you write about. Thank you for trying to express emotions and words correctly. Thank you for making me question things after reading your books.

I spend my time focusing on the perfect version of life that I will never have, or I can spend my time enjoying the life that I have.”
