Stacy Willingham’s All the Dangerous Things is a twisted crime story. With chapters that go back and forth from the past to the present, we delve into the life of Isabelle, a complicated woman enduring the loss of her sister and son. Willingham is a master of suspense and kept me guessing throughout the story.
Characters come to life with such depth and detail that you won’t be able to stop turning the pages. And meanwhile, her story arouses such strong feelings that you are left with a huge amount of emotions that you don’t know what to do with. But in the end the plot works its way back to a resolution so satisfying that you can let the load of all those emotions drop on the final page. It was a fabulous story!
A twisted thriller that captures a mother’s desperation as she searches for her son and provides answers about her own life. Izzy’s 18-month-old son Mason disappeared from her bed a year ago, her husband Ben left her and she doesn’t sleep. But she appears at true crime conventions to tell her story in hopes that others will pick up on her quest, and that’s how she meets Waylon, a podcaster. Waylon has his own secret mission.
This moves in three time frames: when Izzy was a child with her sister Margaret, when Izzy first met Ben, and the present during the fight. You, like me, might guess one of the mysteries embedded in this page turner, but not all. And if the ending feels a little questionable (why?), well, no spoilers from me.
