You’re definitely not thinking of slashing your tires and wishing for your vital limbs.

When newcomer Garrett Harrington comes to Murphy’s Appliances to buy a fridge, Justine tells herself she’s found her relaxation. Or the next love of your life. Either one works. But a chance meeting leads her to realize that Garrett isn’t who he says he is and is more interested in getting his friendly boss out of the family business and using her to do it.

Angry at being deceived by another man and longing for revenge, Justine enlists the help of unusual townsfolk to fight the Harrington Group’s metropolitan development plans for Polson Falls.

Everything goes according to plan… until Justine crosses enemy lines.

The Hustler Next Door is set in the world of Polson Falls. The books in this series can be read in any order.

The Hustler Next Door is not from this wonder of the world. It’s an enemies-plus-loves kind of thing that made me laugh out loud as our heroine Justine McDermott turned the small town of Polson Falls upside down with her rough demeanor. Gosh, she’d forgotten how wild she was in her best friend’s book, The Player Next Door, and why so many of us needed her to make her story like yesterday.

One-liners are thrown around at breakneck speed as she finds her nemesis in the man charged with transforming her adopted home into a city of skyscrapers and overbuild. But from their first hilarious exchange, I knew I had to buckle up and hold on and watch as these two would finally challenge the other like no one before, much to my delight and hers.

Justine is a woman who clearly knows her worth but still has unrelenting doubts when it comes to matters of the heart. Her ex, whose nickname made me laugh out loud every time she uttered it, has broken her more than she ever thought possible, and it’s this nagging memory of failing with him that holds her back on the sexy Garrett Harrington keeps at bay. She has trust issues that add fuel to the fire every time she clashes with Garrett or discovers more of his dealings, which she believes are the work of the devil himself.

Supporting characters like humble deli owner Todd, who is harassed by Justine on an almost daily basis, along with feisty Shirley and the rest of her assisted living cohorts, give our heroine enough ammunition to play Garrett hard in this beautiful book. His no-prisoner attitude should have been a bit off-putting and was to some, but for me I couldn’t get enough of his antics. I was amazed at the predicament that only Justine could handle and overcome my fits of laughter; I also saw the vulnerable side of that temperament and knew that only a confident man like Garrett could be good enough for her.

From the moment Garrett Harrington stepped onto Polson Falls, so much happened in such a short amount of time that I had the best kind of whiplash just to keep up with him and the woman who would definitely try to trip him up. every curve. But thankfully, there are more than a few coincidences that keep Justine and Garrett together, and I devoured every moment as they managed to drive each other insane.

A big thank you also goes to Justine’s best friend, Scarlet, who was there for her friend no matter what she said or did. That kind of friendship is rare, and I’m beyond glad Tucker chose to flaunt it when Justine needed it most.

It’s not always normal for me to have so much fun reading a book, and to be perfectly honest, it’s not normal for me to laugh so much while doing it. But KA Tucker wrote one of the best rom-coms I’ve read in a long time, and the proof of that is how much my stomach hurts from all the laughs I’ve been making while reading The Hustler Next Door.
