Drama King is the second book in the Three Kings series, it is a full length contemporary romantic comedy and can be read on its own.
Drama King is an open-door contemporary romance and part of the Three Kings series. Although this is the second book in the series, it can also be read on its own. The main characters in Homecoming King (Book One) appear only briefly, and the author explains who they are. Cyrus also appears previously in book one.
It is rare to find a book in which the main characters are so strong and independent. They appear to be close, although on the outside they appear Cyrus and Beth have similar motives. Both are willing to put their personal feelings aside when it comes to protecting those around them. The chemistry and interest are there from the start of their awkward “not-so-cute meeting.”
The author does a great job of interspersing the backgrounds of the MCs throughout the story. It makes the development of the characters’ relationship more realistic. Readers gradually learn about the MC’s past, just like in a typical relationship. This style is much more appealing than a dump of biographical information. This book is a bit slow, but its journey makes things even more satisfying.
I’ve never read a bad Penny Reid book and Drama King is no exception. She pours herself into these characters and it really shows in her stories. I look forward to the next book in the series and in the meantime will continue to read old favorites of hers.
