I’m not sure why some people expected this to be movie accurate with just a cover change when the movie costs a ton of money exactly. But if you’re not worried about accuracy, that’s great! Funny spells and art, mythology and of course horror! I enjoy it very much and I collect “Coffee Table” like books. Although this one isn’t as big as some of those, I’ll count it as one. It would be good for a middle grader or just someone who loves Halloween and Hocus Pocus!
The great thing about this book is that you can hear the characters’ voices at any time. Each sister picked up a different colored pen and commented on potions and other writing in a way that is very faithful to her character’s voice. Often they make a note to one of their sisters. You can “overhear” the conversations as if they were an extension of the film. Also, the choice of words in the book is very funny. A rotten goat molar is one of my favorite ingredients for potions. I never buy books that are purely funny, but this time I’m glad I did!
