I said it for Eloise and I’ll say it again, this is the rom-com writers collaboration we didn’t know we needed, but we’re so glad we got it! Somehow I loved Merritt’s story even more than Eloise’s! Returning to Oakley Island is pure joy.

We met our main characters in the previous book. The handsome contractor and man of very few words, Merritt, the seemingly snooty eldest granddaughter of Hunter and Markham.

I LOVE that these two have such a long history. And while this story didn’t have a pretty ending, it was cool to see how grown-up Merritt and Hunter acted on the whole thing. There was so much pain between them, but by being honest and open about their feelings, they were able to clear the air. Annnnnnnd picking up where things left off!

I think one of my favorite parts of this book IS the great communication between the characters and the lack of crazy drama. It was refreshing, but absolutely captivating. Merritt and Hunter are a great match and I have been delighted with the progress of their relationship and their personal growth. It was also nice to see the Markham sisters start to bond more.

Let’s not forget our adorable and wacky animals!!! Banjo!!! Who wouldn’t love this mischievous little raccoon who likes to stick his wet nose in your ear? Or the group of funny dogs! Vroom was a personal favorite.

I don’t want to spoil anything and since there’s so much in this book that I loved, I’m just saying give it a try! Get this for a nice getaway and enjoy the ride!
