Story and characters in this first book in a new series. Although this is a mafia issue
story, it was dark but not brutal.
Unlike other heroines, Nicolette was not an innocent child. I admired his strength, resilience,
and thirst for adventure. It didn’t take much convincing for Nicolette to accept Fabien’s proposal.
Suggestion. What could happen in a weekend? Nicolette remained faithful
to Fabien, despite his plans and his part in them.

Fabien was the boss of the Gerad Mafia family in Corsica. I found it difficult to reconcile
his gentleness towards Nicolette and his brutality towards his enemies. he was dark
and to threaten in the best possible way. He always got what he wanted, and Nicolette
he had an attraction that drew her in a way he had never known. I liked how
protective that he was, but I also liked how he encouraged Nicolette’s participation in his
Plans despite the danger they were in.
A well thought out story with likeable and believable characters.
The chemistry was intense and the danger palpable. All of this led to temptation
to read.
Fabien Gerard is “the sophisticated gentleman with impeccable manners and a voice that would melt panties”. And he is that and much more. He’s obsessive, determined, beautiful, murderous… what’s not to love about a fictional hero? Then there is Nicolette. Jaded but altruistic and has her sister’s best interests at heart. They are perfect for each other. I enjoy the darker romances and love that Mrs. Henry translated the heroes of this series into French.
It’s a nice change from what’s more of a typical expectation when it comes to where the heroes are from (Italy, Russia, Ireland, Mexico/South/Central America). And the development of their relationship was fabulous. He’s a bit wily B, okay, he’s downright fascinating in the way he orchestrates things. Then there are the amazing things you do together (sanitized for the bots) that are just delicious in every way. Own Me is Book 1 in Ms. Henry’s new Masters of Corsica series and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
