He thought he was in control of his life, but he had no idea.

Summer Madison is really the opposite of everything Maxwell Sutton finds attractive in a woman. And yet here she is wrestling with strong feelings for the new personal assistant her brother hired while she was out of town.

Everything about her is wrong, yet her thoughts are consumed with only her. Determined to do whatever it takes to stay away from her, Maxwell develops a no fraternity clause into the company policy.

But rules and logic only last so long.

When the attraction between the two becomes too great to contain, Maxwell finds himself breaking the policy he has instituted. Now that she has liked him, he knows that he will never be able to say no to her again.

Downfall is an age difference, an office romance.

Downfall is an age-gap boss romance with a kind of enemy-to-lover vibe along the way. The story actually spans many different tropes before reaching the end of the story. I was drawn to it from the start as these characters take you on a definitely turbulent rollercoaster ride before calming down and finding their groove.

Summer is a personal assistant at a marketing agency for one of the company’s owners. Life gets interesting/complicated when the grumpy brother decides to go back to town and work at the company, and he seems to have had issues with Summer ever since they met. Max left the company for a year after he ended his marriage, but now he’s back and ready to reprise his role. He definitely wasn’t expecting Summer. She’s the complete opposite of everything she ever thought she wanted, but she might be just what she needs.

I really liked the summer. She had a great attitude and would not accept people treating her badly. I loved her friendship with Delaney. It took me a long time to get used to Max, I won’t lie. He wasn’t attractive at all at first, and there were parts of his personality that weren’t great even as the book progressed. He’s the hot alpha and then there’s the controlling, the possessive, the jealous and the rude, and in my opinion, he’s gone way too far.

Downfall book was pretty predictable, but that didn’t affect the overall enjoyment of the book. However, he wasn’t a big fan of the main conflict in the story. It was both predictable but not entirely believable and just created unnecessary drama that I’m not really a fan of. This was my first book by the author and I found it to be well written and engaging and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The latest book from the talented author Evelyn Sola is Downfall: An Age Gap, Office Romance. This story has some of the elements and slight echoes of my ALL TIME favorite book by this author (Unwrapped: An Age Gap Holiday Romance) while also being vibrant and magically unique…and a lot of fun with witty dialogue and lots of fun! descriptions!

After a much-needed break, Maxwell Sutton returns to his family business. He is refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated…. ready to get back to the daily tasks of running a small but lucrative business. He’s ready… poised and confident until he meets his brother’s new personal assistant. Summer Madison embodies his name; She is sunny, bright, beautiful, and younger than Maxwell by over a decade. When he is introduced to Summer, Maxwell couldn’t have made a worse first impression if she had actively tried. He comes across as elitist, rude and dismissive.

However, he is so in love with Summer that he is almost speechless. Unfortunately, his subsequent antics and his evil plans to fix that first meeting go terribly wrong in spectacular fashion. Will Summer be able to see the real Maxwell behind the mask she wears? As always, Mrs. Sola offers an engaging and entertaining story. Maxwell is so attractive in all of his awkward seriousness and Summer is equally as attractive while being intense and sweet.

The book has an incredibly subtle villain secretly lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike. Mrs. Sola is known for her trilogies. I sincerely hope that younger brother David and hilarious cousin Caleb get their own featured books! The ongoing cat saga was so cute and funny.
