Colleen Hoover (Margaret Colleen Fennell) (born in December 11, year 1979) is an author of young adult fiction and romance.

In January 2012 she published her first novel Slammed. In December 2012, she published Hopeless, which topped the New York Times bestseller list. Many of her works were self-published before being picked up by a publisher.

Hoover was born on December 11, 1979, in Sulfur Springs, Texas, the son of Vannoy Fite and Eddie Fennell. She grew up in the Saltillo, Texas and graduated from the Saltillo High School in year 1998. In 2000 she married Heath Hoover, with whom she has three children. Hoover has a degree in Social Work from Texas A&M-Commerce. She worked in various teaching and social work positions before beginning her writing career.

In November year 2011, Hoover began her first novel, Slammed, with zero intention of publishing it. She was inspired by a songs lyric “decide what to be and go be it” from an Avett Brothers song, and “Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise”. Because of this, she included the Avett Brothers lyrics throughout the story. After a few months, her novel was reviewed by book blogger Maryse Black and she was given a 5-star rating, and sales of her first two books increased rapidly.

Hoover published her first novel, Slammed, in January 2012 and a sequel, Point of Retreat, in February. They reached #8 and #18 on the New York Times bestseller list in August of that year. Atria Books picked them up and re-released them on August 10. A third book in the series, This Girl, was released in April 2013.

This book was absolute perfection. You know that feeling when you finish a book and are sad that it’s over because you just want to spend time with the characters in their everyday domestic life? Well that’s right ?? ?????? ???? ?? just hanging out with Lily and Atlas.

We start right after Lily and Atlas broke up in the epilogue to ?? ???? ???? ?? and every moment of this novel made us feel ????????
Adonis, we mean Atlas, is literally perfect. There’s nothing this man wouldn’t do for Lily, and after everything he’s been through with Ryle, he deserves it. The way he immediately wants to take care of Josh just seconds after learning of his existence is ?? Atlas. Look at Atlas.

The star of the show really was Theo, honestly we could all use a 12 year old therapist. We’re also happy to see that Lily and Ryle’s marriage is over, but their friendship with Alyssa and Marshall is not. While we’re sure it was tough for Alyssa, she did a great job of showing her support and helping Lily through life.
Ryle is still struggling and when he got his hands on Lily again we almost went insane! This man is in dire need of help and we’re glad Lily asked for it.

This whole book was exactly what you want in a sequel, it was full of beautiful domestic fluff and merriment! Both Lily and Atlas deserve nothing less than the best, and they get it with each other!

This book, like This Ends Us, evoked a variety of strong emotions in me. The first book really spoke about Lily’s story and how domestic violence affected her in different ways, between her experiences with her parents and then Ryle. Despite the difficulties she faced, especially as a child, she was willing to help and love someone who might be struggling as much or even more than she was. In This Ends Us, she really comes to terms with herself and takes control of her life and emotions after everything she’s been through.

Atlas really struck me in It Ends With Us as a character who went through an incredibly difficult upbringing: loveless, alone, homeless, and then we see him create a life worth living in It Begins With Us. He grew into a confident, calm and caring man who lives each day to the fullest and gives 100% of himself for whatever he has in life. I think Atlas is not only the perfect friend from the books, but he taught us not to think about our past difficulties, but to strive to live life the way he does it now: full of life, compassion and love .

I hesitated to read this book because I was so in love with the first that I didn’t want it ruined by an unsatisfying second book. I was part of the Atlas team in the first book, so I was excited to see more of him in this one. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. It is so good. It’s exactly the ending I wanted and needed after finishing the first book. A lot of people I spoke to about It Ends With Us said they still ended the book with Team Ryle.

This book allows you to break out of the trance Ryle put us in the first book and reflect on the abusive relationship almost as if we were in the relationship and under Ryle’s influence and manipulation. He also develops the character of Atlas and delves into their intense love for each other. It’s not all rainbows and sunshine, but overall it’s incredibly satisfying. Colleen Hoover does it again. His writing style captivates the reader and makes us fall in love with each character. I loved. I can’t even describe how perfect it was.

In the annals of TikTok discourse, you’ll find the BookTok universe full of literary-minded app users analyzing their recent reading and delving into new releases. Recently, the community turned Colleen Hoover’s works into heartwarming short videos, and with her new novel It Starts with Us, acquired by Simon and Schuester, the content is sure to continue.

While Instagram is the place to be for reading finely curated post frames, TikTok is the rawer, sleepier alternative for Hoover fans. A quick search of the hashtag #CoHo in the app reveals videos with moody music, an influx of sobbing emojis, and injury requests because they may hurt less than reading your books; “Slap my face”, “Break my legs”, the list goes on.

What is “It starts with us” about?
The synopsis for the upcoming novel reads, “Before it was done with us, it started with Atlas,” which leads us to believe that it may be a first-person account of the character introduced in the previous novel. “Colleen Hoover tells the fan-favorite Atlas side of the story and shares what’s next in this highly anticipated sequel to the Sunday Times bestseller, End Us.”

Hoover’s oeuvre spans more than 20 novels, and the prequel to her last book sold more than 250,000 copies in the UK alone. In addition to her work as an author, she and her family founded a nonprofit bookstore and book subscription service called Bookwork Box, which has donated more than $1 million to various charities.

When will It Starts with Us be released?
More details about It Starts with Us are expected to emerge later in the year. The book is expected to come out sometime in October, so there’s plenty of time to stock up on tissues and prepare ourselves, and our TikTok algorithm, for the experience.

First let me say this: there will be a lot of hate for this book for the sole reason that people just don’t like this author because of his popularity.

With that being said; I read End With Us in 2016. I really loved how it ended, I thought it was the end. I never expected that we would start and yet I could not imagine how beautiful and necessary this addition is.

Start With Us showcases the side effects of abuse in all its forms. It shows how realistic, how tragic and even how happily ever after is still overshadowed by pain and memories of abuse.

We see Lily and Atlas as one and we see them really falling in love. I really appreciated that aspect.

Atlas has always been book buff material, but this book really cemented him as one of the good guys, if not one of the top 10 book buffs out there. I wasn’t expecting this to get 5 stars from me, my favorite Colleen Hoover book is Reminders of Him, but it really deserves 5 stars for how thoughtful, down to earth and downright beautiful it was.

End With Us is about Lily and her journey to end the cycle of abuse. It Begins With Us follows Lily and Atlas as they navigate life after completing their own cycles.

We’ve come to the shore that turns into You can go home now.
