Sudha Murthy’s Grandma Sack of Stories

What is your favorite children’s book?

This book by Sudha Murty is like the warm sun you want to feel on a cold morning. It will boost your spirit and spirit, fill your heart with longing and joy, and transport you back to a time when life was simple and fun.

It is a collection of 22 stories narrated by Ajji to his grandchildren Raghu, Meenu, Anand, Krishna and their neighborhood friends. The grandchildren visit their grandparents during the summer holidays. His grandparents’ house is far from the hustle and bustle of city life; Surrounded by greenery and open field. However, the children are more excited about the stories that Ajji is going to tell them while he is with them.

The stories Grandma tells are short and sweet morality stories. These stories are based on a variety of themes such as importance:

  • hard work and honesty
  • be earthy, helpful and humble and happy and loyal
  • presence of mind
  • love people unconditionally

All the stories will fill you with hope and fill you with a sense of content that you used to feel when your grandparents also told you stories.

The narrative is very effective as you can make the stories last longer. The tone is full of warmth. The book has been woven in such a way that old memories come back to you. The book brought back memories of my childhood when my brother and I would travel to my hometown with my parents to visit my grandparents during summer and winter vacations. Those memories were heavy. The smiles that graced the faces of my Amma and my grandfather are images that I will treasure for the rest of my life. It’s a shame I lost them so soon.
