I loved this book, I love the Malones and I love the Haven series so much. I got so many giggles from the ongoing part with the pickup lines. I won’t say more because I don’t want to ruin anything. The only minor thing I would add is that I wish there were more foreshadowings of abuse and the antagonists were more three dimensional.

I know this is book 12 but the Malones are great for protective alpha males that give you the perfect vibe but without playing with age. And boy, is Butch the quintessential Laylah hero?!
Butch and Lara are great! I didn’t really feel their chemistry at first, but I was able to grow and love them once they started loving each other. Butch was the perfect protective alpha from the start. He tried to talk Lara out of it for a moment, but he’s a Malone through and through: protective, caring, headstrong. Lara is cute and funny. He’s a bit of a pushover, but not necessarily in a bad way. She doesn’t believe in herself, but it’s a traumatic reaction. Butch helps her see how awesome she is. He inspires her to stand up for herself (and accept help) and it’s beautiful to watch.
As for “trauma,” violence is implied on the page of this book. The heroine is hit in the face by a secondary character. Other than that, it’s respectfully written, short, and not very detailed. We see the beginning, but not always.
In general I highly recommend it. Spicy, fun and with a sweetness that will warm your heart. If you tend to love Laylah’s old playbooks but haven’t felt the Malones yet, this is a great book to get acquainted with! It can be read absolutely independently. However, it will make you fall in love with the other siblings, so be prepared. I’m dying for Tanner’s book!
