Lexi’s trip abroad with her friends turns into a nightmare when she witnesses her best friend being murdered by a red-eyed man. After realizing that the police aren’t taking her seriously and the death toll is mounting, Lexi decides to stay in Edinburgh to find the red-eyed monster on her own. What Lexi doesn’t realize is that she has unknowingly walked into a war on a mission for justice. Unfortunately, Lexi is drawing all the attention from the wrong people and is headed straight for the Dark Fae trap.

Once I picked the book, I couldn’t put it down! I was totally blown away by Lexi and Thorn’s story. I was drawn into the action and intrigue from the first page! I loved Lexi! Even though she was being foolish at the beginning of the book by following Dark Fae. She is brave and smart. She is afraid of the dark and knows they are dangerous, but she doesn’t let that stop her.

I loved when Thorn swooped in to rescue what he sees as an irrational woman from the Dark, but what I loved even more was Lexi’s grit and determination to keep going. So the girl knows how to protect herself from it. She’s too bad that what she knows doesn’t apply to the immortal paranormal beings she’s up against. I had a good laugh when she stabbed Thorn during their first meeting. She served him well.

Thorn can’t help but be attracted to Lexi as he watches her. And I loved their initial interactions even though the first two or three meetings ended with Lexi stabbing him. After saving her more than one dark ambush and also watching her, Thorn ends up doing something I never saw that coming. Lexi, exhausted and sick from her revenge against the Dark, literally collapses in the street and Thorn nurses her back to health. By taking care of her, she really brings out how much the Kings don’t know about humans. Thorn and her mate Darius have to call the other Kings’ human companions for instructions on how to take care of her.

The scenes where Thorn was taking care of Lexi seemed sweet to me. Add the fact that she tries to be a gentleman and not peek as she changes her clothes when she was out, it made me love him even more. But Thorn is fighting the attraction between them hard and is determined to see her get on a plane back to the States. Things get really interesting when Lexi follows Thorn and Darius and finds out that they are dragons.

Aside from taking care of Lexi, Darius and Thorn aren’t having much luck ridding the city of Darkness. For every one they kill, it seems like five more show up, as much as they don’t want to, they need help, and the Kings are already scattered.

It makes sense for them to call on Warriors and Druids for support. As everyone battles the Darkness, Lexi is confined to Darcy’s old apartment which is protected from the Dark Fairies. Even though she’s not fighting, Lexi does everything she can do for everyone who’s fighting, even if all she can really do is cook for them. Unfortunately, the Darkness notices things and comes for her. Things go from bad to very bad quickly. The last half of this book is a journey!

And oh my, that ending! Holy hell! Everything turned upside down again! I just… What? What can I say? My mind is blown. I need the next book in this series by yesterday! I also can’t wait to get my hands on Grant’s new series featuring these mysterious Reapers that have been mentioned in the last two books! I am intrigued to say the least!
