The setting is really charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The well-planned plot flows smoothly, and the many twists and turns in the complex mystery keep the reader in suspense. I highly recommend this series for readers who enjoy nice, well-crafted mysteries.
After losing her husband and her young son in a tragic accident, Abby Sullivan moved to Holiday Bay, Maine, opened the Inn at Holiday Bay, and found a home and family. Abby, who is dating Police Chief Colt Wilder, lives in a cabin on the property with her cat, Rufus, and her terrier mix, Molly.
Georgia Carter, who has also overcome obstacles in her life, is the talented cook/baker and manager of the inn. Georgia and her dog ella Ramos recently moved in with her boyfriend Tanner Peyton. Jeremy Slater, who lives in the inn’s basement floor with his young niece Annabelle, is a valuable asset helping with the inn’s daily operations. Mylie Sanders moved in with Jeremy and officially works at the inn.
Christmas is just around the corner, and Abby is looking forward to all the festivities in town and at the inn. Velma sends a young woman, Haven Hanson, to the inn looking for a job. In addition to dealing with a series of robberies of popular Christmas toys at local businesses, Colt is also investigating the murder of a wealthy Boston businessman, Bellingham Walton.
Georgia is devastated when evidence points to Tanner and Colt having no choice but to arrest him for murder. Meanwhile, a violent winter storm hits the area, closing the only road between town and the inn, already stranding guests at the inn and preventing others from arriving.
