Gina Chen spent most of her life thinking she hated writing until she produced a few hundred thousand words of fan fiction and decided maybe she was a writer. Her stories lean toward the fantastical, with heroines, antiheroines, and the kind of wit that creates trouble.

As a self-taught artist with a degree in computer science, she churns out creative nonsense in all mediums and always has a project to start. She has a particular predilection for fairy tales, demon tales, romantic comedies, and game shows. She currently resides in Southern California, where the sun is as plentiful as the tea shops.

Violet is a prophetess and liar who influences the royal court with her cleverly worded prophecies, and not always true. Honesty is for chumps, like the uncharming Prince Cyrus, who plans to strip Violet of his official role once he is crowned at the end of the summer, unless Violet does something about it.

But when the king asks her to falsely prophesy Cyrus’ love story for an upcoming ball, Violet awakens a dreaded curse that will lead to the kingdom’s doom or redemption, all depending on the prince’s choice of bride-to-be. Violet is faced with her own choice: seize the opportunity to take control of her own destiny at all costs, or give in to the unfortunate attraction that grows between her and Cyrus.

Violet Made Of Thorns Book Pdf Download

violet made of thorns is a dark fantasy that follows Violet, a resident seer and witch of the Capital of the Sun. Reading her point of view will make you feel one of two things: you will love to hate her or you will hate to love her. She is super funny and so much fun to read. She is also very confident and unapologetic about her words and actions which I really loved and really added to her character. Personally, I love reading books where the protagonist is also an antagonist in the eyes of her companions. In this book, Violet is the antihero that everyone will root for.

“Perfect for fans of the Cruel Prince and the Serpent and the Dove.” Okay, I see where they were going with this, but I have to disagree with the first part. The romance is definitely angst-ridden and full of sexual tension, but I won’t lie, it really wasn’t at the level I was expecting.

But I loved reading about the banter between Cyrus and Violet and how it escalated throughout the book. You played the role of “Enemies” in “Enemies for Lovers” quite well. However, to be honest, I wasn’t entirely sold on the “lover” part. I felt like it was a bit rushed towards the end, especially in the last few chapters. but there is a lot of deception and betrayal that makes up for it. You don’t see that in a lot of enemy books these days.

It is apparent how the book draws on many fairy tale influences throughout history. However, I would have liked to see a little more world building because the details we got were too limited. A broader view of what was going on probably would have changed a lot for me. I also think towards the end it felt a bit too fast overall. There were a lot of things that didn’t make sense and left me more confused as my jaw dropped. However, I hope that Book 2 clears up many of my doubts. I can’t wait to read more about Violet and her potential character development in the sequel.

While violet made of thorns didn’t have the wow factor that I was personally looking for, I think a lot of the elements that were in the game made it quite an interesting and unique read, so I’d recommend at least checking it out.
