Ancient texts have tales of men attacking from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were thought to be part angels and part demons. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your own risk. And once crossed, there was no turning back.

They were fearless; Men of honor known by various names throughout history: Spartans, Vikings, Samurai.

Even today, such men strike from the shadows. They are highly respected secret agents, military agents and assassins.

A man is all three.

Two days ago this man was in a bad mood… very bad.

Now far from home and surrounded by his enemy, Scot Harvath must fight his way out.

With no support, no cavalry arriving, and no knowledge of where he is, he’ll need everything he’s learned to survive.

But surviving is not enough. Harvath wants revenge.

Page after page of riveting action, intrigue, loyalty and betrayal will keep you hooked to the last sentence in the most explosive novel Brad Thor has ever written.

What I love about this book and Thor’s writing is that it is action-packed, reality-based writing where you know he did the research and as a reader you become immersed in this book and feel like you’re right there next to him His he deals not only with the traumatic events that led to his kidnapping, but also with the physical and also emotional journey he goes through in this process.

What I hate about this book is that Thor, like most authors, is incredibly hard on his characters. Poor Scotsman never gets a break to calm down while people are ripped from his life in the most brutal of ways. I see it as a vehicle for the story, but part of me just wants to read a book about someone who actually has something that motivates them to protect others, rather than just anger and revenge.

It may not be all that gripping, but with the women he loves being taken away from him time and time again, one wonders when the sheepdog’s inability to protect the flock will crumble past the point of being a likable character. It’s taken a mental toll in the past, and it looks like it may be the case again in the next novel based on what happened in this one.

Also, I’d like him to only have a safe haven once that lasts longer than a novel or two, as I think that urge to protect the country and others would be far more satisfying than tearing it down to basics like Thor does here.

That’s not to say I didn’t like the book. I absolutely did and it’s a great follow-up to Thor’s other works. In fact, I’d like to go back and restart the entire series to revisit Scot’s character development as I wait for the next novel to be written. This book is captivating and I appreciate how well developed the characters are even though they only appear briefly in the book. You feel like he’s done his research and both the locations and the characters come to life. I really recommend this book and the whole series.

Brad Thor has done it again and created another great story with Scot Harvath. In it, Russia sends a hit team of undercover thugs to New Hampshire to capture Scot and murder his wife and three others. As Brad says, this is an act of war, but the US will not go to war with Russia over it, but Scot Harvath is doing it with the help of the end of his team.

This book is difficult to put down. The twists and the turns in the story keep you reading. How will Scot survive this? Brad has no love for Russia and in this book he stands out from his garbage plane one of which crashes south of Murmansk near the Finnish border to start the adventure, to his smelly apartments to the thugs including the Wagner teams.

Russian Mercenaries Modeled after the German SS during World War II, this book is full of criticism of the Russian nation, a nation that wants to be considered civilized but lives in an environment ruled by an oligarchy that abuses its people and treated it terribly. . In the end Scot survives of course, sorry if I messed that up for you but that’s to be expected – the fun is how he does it and fights back.
