I read and enjoyed Holly Jackson’s true crime inspired series, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Five Survive is a more traditional crime thriller but with a very modern twist. As the story unfolds, the reader learns more and more about each character and the dynamic between them all. Alliances form and change under the stress of your situation, decisions are made and actions taken, and it can all end in tragedy. Although this latest work is young adult literature, I would recommend it to adult readers as well. An intricate plot, well-rounded characters, and plenty of twists and turns make for a quick but compelling read.

That was entertaining! I’ve read and enjoyed The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, so I was very excited to hear about Holly Jackson’s latest offering. I was immediately hooked on this story and wondered how this would all end. This book was full of mysteries and lots of twists and turns. I’m so glad I decided to try it.

Based on the book’s title, I had a good idea that one of the six in the RV wasn’t going to make it home. He didn’t know who it would be, but he knew who he would hopefully be soon. I think it’s safe to say that one of these characters bothered me from the start. We see everything from Red’s point of view and I thought he was a great character even though he had some secrets of his own. I couldn’t wait to see how this group would handle whatever was thrown at them. This book had lots of action and lots of mysteries to keep things interesting.

Emma Galvin did a great job with the narration for this audio book. She brought the story to life and quickly became Red’s voice for me. I think you did a great job adding just the right amount of emotion to your read. I found her voice pleasant and had no problem listening to this book for hours.

I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be an intriguing story that kept me guessing to the end. I look forward to reading more of Holly Jackson’s work soon.
