Elle Thorpe lives on Australia’s sunny east coast, an hour from Sydney. When she’s not writing kissing and chemistry stories, she’s a wife and mother of three tiny people. She is also the official ball thrower for a sloppy dog named Rollo. Yes, she named a female dog after a male character in Vikings. Don’t judge her. Elle is a complete and utter fangirl at heart, obsessed with The Walking Dead and Outlander to an unhealthy degree. But she wouldn’t change a thing.

Having been a book lover for as long as she could remember, Elle started writing in high school. She scribbled stories not so loosely based on the hottest guy in school while they slept with her best friend. As she transitioned into the workforce, she would always hide a notebook in her file, writing down schematics and scenes when no one was looking.

She took a longer break from writing when the little people came along, but her characters were always there, telling her stories in the back of her mind. When her youngest child was eighteen months old, Elle began using her lunch hour as writing time and wrote two books over the next eighteen months. They will never see the light of day. But then this arrogant but kind of cute character guy named Low started talking, and the rest is history.

I really enjoyed the previous series, Saint View High, so I approached this first book in the upcoming trilogy with a confident attitude that it would be a great read. Holy Moly, I was wrong! It was a sensational book, I literally have no words to describe how fantastic it was, but I can say: read it, you will not be disappointed.

I’m not a big fan of reverse harem stories, but the way this author writes them is different and that aspect doesn’t override the plot, it enhances it. The romance becomes more meaningful and don’t think for a minute that this is a “dirty” book because it isn’t! It is tastefully written and allows the characters’ passion for each other and their feelings to slowly emerge and integrate into the story.

The main characters, Mae, Heath, Liam and Rowe, are all very different and yet similar in many ways. At first I was a little hesitant about Mae, I liked her, but the jury was out until I got more familiar with her character and then I really liked her. She had such a determined and brave demeanor, she was great. I actually liked Heath right away, he was a gentleman with his very protective manner, not to mention his sex appeal.

Actually, all three men were very sexy and pulled off some very nice pictures, but I digress, sorry. I actually liked Liam pretty quickly too, we get little bits and pieces that show he’s got more than what’s on the surface. Well, Rowe, he was a completely different fish with his sullen and brooding demeanor, but so intriguing, how could you not want to know more about him?

There was so much action and drama going on in this book that honestly there is never a dull moment. It was quite hard to put it down when real life interfered with the book i am my reading! The twists and turns sent you down many paths that were important and exciting as well. I literally didn’t want this story to end and can’t wait for the next book.

Another wonderful story that I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone.

Locked Up Liars (Saint View Prison #1) by Elle Thorpe is the first book in the Saint View Prison series, a contemporary reverse harem trilogy with elements of crime and romantic suspense. The trilogy follows the ongoing story of Mae Donovan, who accepts a job at a maximum security prison in hopes of catching her sister’s killer and exonerating the man serving time for the crime. Locked Up Liars is told in the first person with multiple points of view. Although most of the story is from Mae’s perspective (26 chapters out of 38), three other characters have POV chapters. As part of an ongoing story, Locked Up Liars ends on a cliffhanger.

What can I say? I don’t want to give anything away. I loved Locked Up Liars. I was hooked on Mae’s story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. I read it in one go. The chemistry between Mae, Heath, Liam and Rowe crackles with electricity. The story is full of intrigue, suspense and drama. Secrets and lies abound, adding to the mystery of the criminal investigation department. There are also plenty of twists, turns, and surprises.

Then it ends with the kind of cliffhanger you want to hate but can’t help but love because it hooks you even more. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two, Solitary Sinners to find out what happens next!
