As a note, you should definitely read the first three books of the Cruel Shifterverse to understand the characters, cameos, and dynamics. I was so excited for Aran’s story and I wasn’t disappointed! In my opinion, her story is even a lot darker than Sadie’s, but I think it fits with her backstory. It’s also incredibly slow (this book feels more like a build-up with very little romance and a bit of steam/spice), but Aran’s inner monologues always brought tears or laughter. While slow, the build for the next book in the aren story looks very promising. I can not wait!
This is the story of Aran in the cruel universe of shapeshifting wolves. Be sure to read Sadie’s story before starting this one as it contains cameo appearances from characters and many references to events that take place in this story and are crucial to this story.

This story picks up where Book 3 had to. Aran is taken to Elite Academy. There she discovers a “sweet” human man who immediately becomes friends with her. His internal dialogue about him made me LOL. Aran is still disguised as a child in this new work rule. Aran is chosen at trial to be part of a much sought-after elite group. There he meets the 3 kings. I am this new world that is life or death. She’s attracted to kings and she’s attracted to her, but it’s not instant love. They are the enemies. Aran is still struggling with the trauma he suffered from books 1-3.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but I loved the beginning of Aran’s story. It’s busy and she’s very busy. She is a tough girl trying to survive in the men’s world. Take Jasmine’s activation warnings seriously. In my opinion, this book is just as dark, if not darker, than Sadie’s story.
