I’m not sure what I was expecting from the brother of this former best friend/childhood crush/now celebrity romance, but it wasn’t the sheer number of feelings I got. And I’m not complaining. This starts off with a bit of Insta lust (which I wasn’t sold on at first) and it makes sense because once they meet, Gigi and Alec are hooked. But that’s not boiling chemistry, wait, wait, listen to me.

Paradoxically, it’s more of a slow, steady boil, like a warm bath to relax your muscles and melt your bones, which doesn’t make it any less sultry for your comfort. Both soft and vaporous, slow and frenetic. I hope you were with me through this metaphor. Because they are cooking or simmering, these two are incredibly dirty, sexy, and quite beautiful. They are not even slightly toxic and who would have thought you would enjoy it.

Gigi is making waves in her career, but she’s piecing together the pieces of a recent change in her personal life; Alec is also on top of her mega career, but he’s as cute as he is lovable, as protective as he is charming, and he’s willing to be the solid rock on which Gigi can rest her shaky faith. And the man is a magician in the bedroom AND in communication with his partner! Indeed, a woman’s wet dream. Her kindness of hers, her resolute patience of hers in bed and out of it, that confession at the end that made my eyes water? She would die for him.

The high-quality, emotionally challenging story that Gigi is working on forms an important part of the narrative and adds gravitas to the story. It’s both heartbreaking and ultimately hopeful with the resolution we’re getting. The cover perfectly sums up the essence of the story; the fireworks and the unbridled joy and love between Gigi and Alec.
