When single mom Alison Nolan leaves with her six-year-old daughter Hazel, she can’t wait to spend some quality time with her little girl. A vacation on Silent Lake, where snow-capped mountains are surrounded by fall colors, is just the ticket. But many hours later, Alison and Hazel also vanish into thin air.

Detective Kay Sharp rushes to the crime scene. The only evidence they’ve ever been there is an abandoned rental car with a suitcase in the back, gummy bears in the open glove compartment, and a teddy bear on the floor.

Kay’s thoughts are circling. A week earlier, the body of another woman from out of town was found, wrapped in a blanket, her hair braided and tied with feathers. Instinct tells him the cases are connected and it won’t be long before more innocent lives are lost.

From bestselling author Leslie Wolfe, The Girl from Silent Lake is another riveting crime thriller that will leave you in suspense. Detective Kay Sharp is Book 1 in another excellent collection by this prolific author. Again, the author weaves another suspenseful crime thriller with many twists and turns that captivates the reader from the opening chapter.

The Girl From Silent Lake book’s description offers a glimpse: “She felt a shiver down her spine as she approached the body, as if its coldness were touching her own soul.” The girl in the shallow grave was like a newborn baby wrapped in a blanket wrapped. Her skin was porcelain white, as if kissed by snow, and her hair was braided and tied with feathers. What happened to that poor innocent girl?… Detective Kay Sharp swore she would never return to her childhood home.

On the night of her thirteenth birthday, her fractured family was shattered beyond repair and leaving was her only option. She’s certain the ritualistic nature of the scene means it’s only a matter of time before he attacks again, unless she catches him first… As the yellow police tape flutters in the biting wind, another will Woman reported missing. Kay leads a frantic search for Alison Nolan, an outsider, and when she finds her car, Kay’s blood runs cold as she shines her flashlight in the back seat and sees a teddy bear.

Alison’s little six-year-old girl, Hazel, is also missing… Kay knows the investigation into the missing person could turn into a murder at any moment. But as she searches for the culprit, her own past catches up with her. Will he really be able to find the killer before it’s really too late? And will the secret he thought he buried remain?

The Girl From Silent Lake story unfolds in small acts, feeling light at first and then building emotional substance. In the spaces between the words, the author breathes a pulsing intensity that rolls like a film camera. With lots of pictures in the writing style, you feel like you’re right in the middle of the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book.

I enjoyed The Girl From Silent Lake story, character development and dialogue. There were many plot twists that I didn’t see coming that added to the mystique of the book. When I stopped reading for work, I wondered what happened in the book and played parts of the story in my head to see if I could figure out more. It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a book so much.
