I don’t know how she does it, but Emily continues to write these compelling books with plots that surprise you at every turn and these heroes you should hate but will literally steal your heart. Emily really has such a beautiful and also powerful writing style. Every word she writes has meaning and the descriptions really make you feel like you’re there. I always read these books slowly to absorb and absorb all the words.

The whole arranged/forced marriage trope had a new take on this story. We see Julian play out this plan with even more evil on his mind. Julian convinces Yasmin and also her father that this marriage is really the best idea. You just don’t know his true plans. But when Julian unexpectedly falls for the beautiful Yasmin, will he go through with his plan?

Yasmin goes through a roller coaster of emotions throughout the story. She has a man she loves that she is being fired, her father is dying and she must now marry this man she despises. Julian. I really don’t even know what to say about him. I didn’t think it was possible, but he took over from James Barrie as a bookmate. He is really a broken man with a chip on his shoulder. He feels that he deserves more than what he has been given.

That slow burn was epic! He had enough heat and segmental tension to leave you wanting more, but he didn’t get down to business until much later. Julian and Yasmin bring warmth with each touch, with each word. And that’s why I’m here! Julian becomes this possessive @lpha who doesn’t allow anyone to talk to or disrespect his wife. (Cue to the Will Smith vibes). I loved how they fell in the love after hating.

As usual, you’ll enjoy some brilliantly used Aladdin references and some extremely hot scenes. All the details together and make this book so perfect!

I hear you loud and clear, Emily McIntire, compelling with Julian Faraci.

Julian is the right hand of one of the world’s largest diamond dealers. He works his way up the ladder at Sultans and now does Ali Karam’s dirty work. But as number two, his career path seems to be coming to an end and it seems that Ali’s days are numbered as his health deteriorates.

The key to taking control of the business lies in Ali’s daughter, Yasmin, but she wants nothing to do with Julian and everything to do with the Son of Aid. Now Julian is in a game of chess to get the girl so he can get the deal.

As with the other books in the series, McIntire makes a compelling case for “villains who do it better,” and Julian is no exception. He is someone you should never turn your back on because he can destroy you in the blink of an eye. However, his charisma and cunning can certainly attract and disarm anyone.

Emily McIntire’s lead female characters set the bar high, and for me, Yasmin didn’t measure up to Sara and Eveline. Sure, she’s strong and smarter than she looks, but I don’t think she can match Julian at his mind game.

Despite this, their chemistry was still tasty and captivating. What drew me most, besides the fictional sweetie that is Julian Faraci, is how their relationship deftly yet subtly shifts over time amid gripping suspense and action.

Twisted is the fourth part of the Never After series, but it can also be read individually. I always look forward to every release and this one did not disappoint. Now the countdown begins to run.
