I’m often stoically silent or, if the subject interests me, a chronic wanderer. In other words, I can talk about writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story, while a huge draw and constantly present, is secondary to me because there’s so much more to writing romantic fiction than just getting two (or more) people to fall in love and have passionate sex.

There’s a world to build, characters to develop, interests to develop, and a topic or two to delve into. Each book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new and a puzzle to put together. I want my characters to come to life and the only way I know of is to give them substance (passions, story, goals, quirks and strong opinions) and let them develop. Also, I want my husbands and wives to be identifiable. That means making room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, mistakes. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait… this should be about me, not my writing.

I’m a writer who loves to write. Always wanderlust, trills, twists and geeky. There’s also time for hockey and cupcakes. But most of all I like to write.

The Game Series is a BDSM series where romance meets kinky reality. Sometimes we fall in love with someone we disagree with, sometimes the vanilla business gets in the way of perverted pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and overcome trauma and insecurities. Whatever happens, one thing is for sure. This isn’t a perfect world, and maybe that’s why it feels so good to be happily ever after.

Well, that was absolutely delicious and sweet, as was Corey Cruz herself.

Cara has returned to the top of The Game with this book, it was an absolute delight to see Greer, Sloan and Archer include Corey in their family and help him recover from the (non-sexual) abuse his former “Father” committed had inflicted on him. State of mind.

Corey is a beautiful mix of vulnerability, meanness, sass and spark, but his autism also means he sometimes has a hard time understanding how he was being manipulated by Marcus, the man who should have protected him when he went to his little one personality returns.

This was a book that I read in one go from the moment I picked it up. I needed to know what would happen to Corey if he moved to Denver, away from all his family and friends, if Marcus was going to get away with it. behavior (which we’ve seen glimpses of in previous installments) and could Greer back down or would he finally intervene?

All of these questions and more were beautifully answered as Cara shared this story of recovery, finding a family that supports, encourages, empowers, and protects everyone around them.

And my goodness, this is one of the hottest, but also incredibly emotionally charged relationships in the series, as each of the four men finds their own personal connection individually, in pairs, in threes and also in fours. .

I don’t think I would have liked this book more if I had tried it!

Please don’t read my review if you want to avoid spoilers. I just can’t rate without them.

First of all, something I’ve missed in a lot of series is finding the family. And man, I’m connected to McClean House and people are a part of it. Knowing how long this series is potentially going to last, I know it’s only going to get bigger.

Second, this entire book is from Corey’s perspective. At first I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it, but in the end I’m so happy it did. Not only because we got to embark on his journey to truly find himself and how toxic his father was, but also because of his very refreshing commentary on autism. Can I get an amen?! Thank you Cara. just thanks

There’s a twist, although I wish there was more. There was a lot to do and just like the previous one, I felt that these two books and the stories on this quad were unfinished. Knowing there are more books to come in this series, I’m confident there will be more. It needed more rotation. I needed more momentum on the four. She needed more time with Corey and the kids. And I would have loved to have actually seen Corey downstairs again. I’m not a fan of age games but it felt weird that he was a little short and that was only mentioned briefly.

But everything that was said, all that WAS touched on at least a little bit. We taste everything. And while I say I want more, on this show I ALWAYS say I want more, you know? This book, this series touches everything for me.

Lots of steam/kinks, drama that fits the book’s themes and isn’t wrong or out of place, found family, humor, overall good writing…accurate portrayal of autistic characters and PTSD characters…I hope so I look forward to every book, but Corey had a small triumph for those of us who have been abused to rejoice in. Despite the things I missed, these didn’t matter in the end. He was entertained and in love and damn happy. When was the last time any book made me happy? It’s been a while.
