“It’s a random universe,” says Reacher. “Once in a blue moon, everything really works out.”

This is not one of those times.

Reacher is on a Greyhound bus minding his own business with no specific place to go and all the time in the world to get there. He then gets off the bus to help an elderly man who is obviously just a victim waiting to be overtaken. But you know what they really say about good deeds. Now Reacher wants to get it right.

An elderly couple made some well-intentioned mistakes and now they owe some very mean people a lot of money. One brazen action leads to another, and suddenly Reacher finds himself a wanted man in the midst of a brutal turf war between rival Ukrainian and Albanian gangs.

Reacher must stay one step ahead of loan sharks, thugs, and murderers. Teaming up with a well-fed waitress who knows a little more than he’d like to admit, he sets out to bring down the powerful and make the greedy pay. It’s a long shot. The odds are against you. But Reacher believes in a very certain kind of the justice. . . the kind that really happens once in a blue moon.

Blue Moon was another excellent installment in the Jack Reacher series with a fast paced and action packed story.

Reacher is sitting on a bus with nowhere to go when he sees an old man about to become a crime victim. Wanting to help the man, Reacher gets off the bus, setting in motion a chain of events that leads Reacher to find himself at the center of a gang war between Ukrainians and Albanians. Determined to make things right, Reacher teams up with a waitress who knows more about gangs than he’d like to admit. With the odds stacked against him, Reacher begins to take down the corrupt using his own brand of justice.

The plot of this book is one of the best of the previous books in the series, in my opinion. Reacher arrives in an unnamed town controlled by two rival gangs. Reacher initially had no plans to get involved in the gang war, he just wanted to help the elderly couple he comes across and then hit the road. But through a series of events, Reacher finds himself in the middle of a war with both sides behind him.

I really enjoyed the chaos that Reacher created and how he managed to pit the two gangs against each other. It was interesting to get scenes from the two gangs’ points of view, as it was clear they had no idea who they were dealing with and had numerous theories about who Reacher might be.

Reacher continues to be an amazing character and I loved seeing how his character develops throughout the series. His mind works differently from most humans, allowing him to quickly analyze scenes and find the root of any problem. I will say that Reacher kills quite a few people in this book, more than the last few books combined, which is a slight departure from the way his character has been acting lately.

Reacher meets a beautiful woman once again and I really enjoyed the character of Abby. I liked that she was a strong character and had no qualms about how Reacher dealt with gangs. Plus, he actually contributed to the final showdown, which is a nice change from the damsels in distress that usually appear in male thrillers.

Overall, Blue Moon was just as fantastic as the rest of the series and I can’t wait to see what Reacher comes up with next. I would recommend this series to anyone looking for an amazing thriller series.
