When Dillion Stitch lefts her hometown, she had no intention of returning. But when her brother gets into trouble, Dillion reluctantly agrees to return home to take his place in the family business.

Being back at Pearl Lake after all these years feels familiar, but it also brings a few surprises. He quickly realizes that someone new has appeared in the cubicle next door. Dillion gets more than a glimpse when she visits the new arrival and meets Donovan “Van” Firestone, her beloved neighbor’s grandson, in all his naked glory.

After a rocky start, it doesn’t take long before they’re bickering all over town. All of this coming and going inevitably creates an undeniable pull. But Dillion’s family is in trouble, Van’s family is upset with him, and neither Dillion nor Van are comfortable in the small town. For these Pearl Lake exiles, home isn’t just their heart, it’s also where things get messy.

Want to lose yourself in the perfect small-town romance this summer? Hunting’s first book in the Lakeside series definitely fits. Love Next Door is a heartfelt story with a little bit of everything. This entertaining read not only made me smile but also gave me a glimpse of what was about to happen next. The suspense was well thought out and the conflicts in the poignant scenes kept me emotionally engaged until the last page.

Interestingly, the two protagonists are not actually villagers. Donavan Firestone aka Van is a city boy and the return of Dillon Stitch was not on his agenda. Their first meeting let me down and just wow does he have an attitude or what? Even though Van keeps rubbing her the wrong way, sparks fly. They didn’t agree either, but it was fascinating to watch as they remembered a loved one and learned Dillion’s backstory. Van also has a history, but for some reason his seemed to resonate with me more.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with Van. If I was already convinced by her wicked wit and cuteness, Dillion’s sharp replies impressed me even more. And get ready for some small town gossip at its finest! It’s amazing what you will discover by listening to your acquaintances in such a close-knit community. The anxiety escalates a notch or two as Van’s dilemma reaches its peak, and while I had my suspicions as to who was behind it, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story.

I loved how they both quietly questioned their feelings, how they began to appreciate their surroundings without realizing that a future might be closer than they thought possible. The dual narration, full of flirtatious banter and snappy dialogue in a stunning setting, was the icing on the cake. Not to mention the hot scenes that will prepare your fans for it. The hunt surprised me! Returning to Pearl Lake brought back many happy memories, but I struggled to understand a person’s actions until all was revealed. What I mean is that it felt real. That, dear readers, is very important to me.

I can’t go as far as telling you how the ending went without spoiling the read. I can’t even tell that you which side of the lake was the better. Also, sometimes we have to live with our luck, do our best no matter what the situation, or go to extremes and run away. Don’t judge any of the characters too quick. Just read it! Bravo,
