Drifting on a raft after a fatal boat explosion, ten people struggle to survive at sea. Three days pass. Without water, without food, without hope, they discover a man swimming in the waves. They push him inside.

“Thank God we found you,” says a passenger.

“I am the Lord,” the man whispers.

Thus begins Mitch Albom’s most disturbing novel yet.

Albom has written about heaven in the acclaimed bestsellers The Five People You’ll Meet in Heaven and The First Phone Call From Heaven. Now, for the first time in his fiction, he wonders what we would do if God actually appeared before us after we cried out for divine help.

In The Stranger in the Lifeboat, Albom leaves us wondering until the very end: Is this strange man really who he says he is? What really happened to cause the explosion? Are the survivors in heaven or hell? The story is told by Benji, one of the passengers, who recounts the events in a notebook that is discovered a year later when the empty life raft reaches the island of Montserrat. He falls to the island’s chief inspector, Jarty LeFleur, a man battling his own demons to solve the mystery of what really happened.

A fast-paced and captivating novel that will make you reflect on your deepest beliefs. The Stranger in the Lifeboat suggests that answers to our prayers can be found where we least expect them.

Bestselling author Mitch Albom has done it again. I wrote a story that has left me deeply.

No wonder I have all his books.

Just when he thought he had figured things out… Plot twist. One that was not expected.

And another, and another, and another.

Spirit. spoiled.

stand out Two quotes: “So why don’t people come back to earth after they die?” The stranger smiled. “Why would you want that?”

And yes. With science you have explained the sun. You explained the stars I put in the sky. You have explained all the great and small creatures with which I have populated the earth. You even explained my greatest creation to me. -What’s that? I asked. ‘You.’

There are no spoilers here. You have to read the book yourself.

All I know is that I couldn’t stop reading until I finished.

Five stars, highly recommended. I will definitely read it again.

Tip: don’t start before bed. I promise you won’t sleep!

When Benji looked out to sea, all he saw was blue and there was no end in sight. Knowing that the odds were stacked against him, he and the others had been drifting aimlessly for three days. The chance of salvation was slim, and yet he prayed. He prayed even though he knew he hadn’t talked to God in many years.
and he hoped that his request would be granted.

His only consolation is a diary in which he writes to his wife, recording his efforts to survive. As he and the others slowly descend into despair, a body appears nearby, not a fellow passenger from the damaged ship, but a man who claims to be the answer to all his prayers.

What would you do if God appeared before your eyes and spoke to you and told you that your prayers were answered? It is normal to be skeptical, I know I would have my doubts, but I would also be amazed and hopeful. This book was just wonderful and I loved every minute of it. Mitch Albom can always be counted on not only to write a well-written and entertaining book, but also to make the reader look inside himself and feel something new.
