There was definitely an incredible story lined up with Jaine Diamond’s rebel legacy. This was a brutal, dangerous, downright creepy romance that was part gangster, part MC, with a generous helping of second chance romantic love story. There are plenty of insanely sexy heroes (and before I knew why Lex had silver teeth, I had to google them to see what they looked like) and one lovable heroine who knows what she wants and fights to not settle for it admit. second place. better. We’ve met Lex and Talia in previous books, but here they are the focus and their story was heartbreaking and unforgettable, and I still suffer from book hangovers.
My adrenaline was definitely high while reading this book. Since the Dirty series and its offshoots are set in Vancouver and my hometown suburbs, I can imagine driving with them and seeing what they see when the characters are out, which adds a whole new dimension to the story.. and it makes it sooo realistic
Lex escaped from his father’s crime family and became a member of the Kings MC ten years ago. Unfortunately his father has a long reach and every year Lex is called in to meet him and do a job for him. His father’s rejection could put Lex’ friends in jeopardy, so he must fulfill it, but this time the task is something that puts the life of his childhood friend and lifelong love, Talia, at risk, which is unacceptable.
There are so many twists and turns in this story that Lex tries to balance his loyalty to the kings and protect Talia. Talia doesn’t help matters by being a sexy slut who teases Lex mercilessly to find out if he loves her or if there’s nothing between them. The road to ultimate happiness is long and dangerous, but Lex emerges as the hero Talia always knew could be, ready to face danger and even die for her.
I think this is probably the most intense story I’ve read from Jaine. She has delved into what lies beneath the surface of the Kings MC and who they really are. More than just bodyguards for the members of Dirty and the Players, they are part of a much larger underground network but still believe in loyalty and friendship.
If you like a gripping, suspenseful and moving thriller and a hot and sexy love story, this is for you. Jaine has really outdone herself this time.
What a great read! Rebel Heir is Book 2 in the Vancity Villains series with ties to this author’s Dirty series.
Mrs. Diamond always had a preface of sorts for me, and like some of her others, this one was wonderful. I was instantly hooked. I loved the introduction to the connection these two characters share.
We’ve met both Talia and Lex in their previous books and I have to say they were both fan favorites.
This story was captivating, suspenseful, mysterious, thrilling, funny and sexy!
I was easily drawn to the details of the story, the depth of the characters, their thoughts and emotions; everything was very well done. I loved the writing style and passion of this author and I kept wanting more of the story with every page. There were some twists and turns that had me dying to know what would happen next with these two!
Lex was so amazing, I loved seeing his personality shine through in this book. He is so much more than I could have hoped for and he was a great and amazing lead actor.
I totally loved the Talia, she is so wonderful, I truly enjoyed getting to know her better. She is passionate, hardworking and fun. I loved his audacity and determination, he showed great strength.
The excitement about it was in full force. It was raw and beautiful and so captivating. But I must also say that it made me laugh a lot too! Talia and Lex are incredible characters that I couldn’t get enough of.
I highly recommend this book as a must read for this summer!
