Beauty and the Baller just exudes genuine charm and romantic chemistry. This story is everything that makes Ilsa Madden-Mills one of my absolute favorites. Uniquely told, incredibly funny, endearingly emotional and deliciously sweet and oh so sexy. Add the charisma of Ilsa’s small town tale and I fell head over heels in love with this epic endearing tale. Ilsa Madden Mills at its best!

I knew from the start that this story would make me laugh and cry. Ronan and Nova have a cute memorable encounter: Ilsa begins her story on an offbeat and funny note, but with a slightly bittersweet undertone. I was mesmerized by their chemistry, I fell in love with them instantly, but they also broke my heart.

Fast forward to a second chance reunion in the small town of Blue Bell, Texas, and that’s where we really meet our former beauty queen-turned-tutor and this former soccer player-turned-coach. And they cannot escape each other. A series of hilarious small-town meddling circumstances and a bit of personal baggage lead the two to mistakenly date, but their chemistry and budding connection is far from wrong.

AND OH MY HEART. I just loved these two together. Nova is a sun ball: she is kind, loving, and very selfless. I loved how Ronan got under her skin, how he tested her patience, and I loved the cheekiness that comes with her sweetness. She is so smart and smart. I fell so in love with her. And Ronan broke my heart, but he said so too.

This is a broken man, a closed man, pierced with pain. But he has so much love to give, and I loved the protective alpha that emerged within him. His developing vulnerability makes him dreamy and a little nervous. And their chemistry is off the charts: the flirting, the banter, the mischief and the HEAT! These two have such a palpable connection that it vibrated from the side.

Ilsa has a great talent for writing stories with emotional substance, with real emotional poignancy, while keeping the books light and entertaining. Both characters had real heartbreak and loss, both a little bit lost in a life they would never have chosen for themselves. They all have their own baggage and pain that they deal with in very different ways, but none of it is truly healing. By the time they meet, and although their romance begins as a “fake,” a hesitant and unlikely friendship blossoms. They find camaraderie in the way they understand each other.

It’s ironic that the person they can be most honest with is the person they lie to everyone else. It’s such a beautiful progression from enemies to friends to lovers to see these two find healing, hope and new direction in each other. More than a romantic second chance, Beauty and the Baller is about finding yourself, the restoring power of unconditional love, even when you find it where you least expect it.

I couldn’t love this book more. Such a sweet story, amazing city, and a supporting cast of characters who are equally charming and entertaining, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. One of my favorite Ilsa stories of all time – it’s heart healing, it’s funny and it’s pure magic.

Beauty and the Baller by the author Ilsa Madden-Mills is one of my favorite surprises this year. Having moved to Texas in my late teens, I can safely say that Madden-Mills perfectly captures Texas’ love and obsession for all things football. And despite my lack of interest in sports, I loved everything about their fake dating sports romance in a small southern town! Isn’t it crazy how it’s almost harder to review the books you love because you just want to write pages about everything you love about a book?

Beauty and the Baller flooded me with all the feelings that I love and have missed about reading romance novels lately, which is why it took me so long to write this review. Madden’s vivid description, creation, skillful development of diverse and intriguing characters, and beautiful storytelling drew me to Beauty and the Baller immediately and I couldn’t put it down!

Ronan and Nova are made for each other. Ronan’s even-tempered personality doesn’t quite fit the stereotype of a top athlete. He’s nerdy, honest, humble, full of integrity, loyal and not a prostitute. Nova’s spirit is so bright and she’s kind, vulnerable, beautiful, and yet she’s not your typical beauty queen. Although she loves her fashion, she is neither vain nor superficial. Instead, she’s strong and brave, which she needs to be living in the city she hoped never to return to.

She is committed to being the best sister and surrogate mother she can be to her autistic teenage sister following the unexpected death of her mother. I love how Nova and Ronan play, laugh and have hot sex, but also support, encourage and empower each other. Their interactions are sweet, fun, and filled with intense emotion and warmth, and they balance each other, helping each other heal, overcome past pain, and find happiness.

Former beauty queen Nova Morgan’s one-night stand with her favorite quarterback ends up sour after she storms into a high-profile party to get his attention in a barely noticeable costume of one of her favorite characters. Two years later, broke and distraught, Nova returns home to Blue Belle, Texas to find out that Ronan is her neighbor and doesn’t remember her at all. Ronan suggests that he and Nova go on a fake date to convince the promoter club to stop throwing women at him so he can stay in town as his beloved new high school football coach.

He would also help Nova by putting up a barrier between her and her high school sweetheart. The sparks and connection between them intensify and deepen the more time they spend together, only getting more complicated when he realizes that she is the woman he has dreamed of ever since she pulled him from the depths of despair , which came out of this world night . which they shared .

Beauty and the Baller is a sweet, captivating, heartbreaking, funny, sensual, charming and smoking hot small town romance that explores themes of risk taking, faith, second chances at happiness, family and fears. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and other Madden Mills books, some of which I have on my TBR.
